A field guide
Social Media Marketing podcasts, explained
A good social media marketing episode can hinge on a T-shirt. In Hashtags Are Dead | Here's How To 10X Your Followers Without Them, Build Your Tribe host Brock Johnson recalls a time Instagram read "rare fish investor" on his shirt and decided his carousel was about fish investing. The joke carries a working lesson. Software decides who sees a post, and the best of these shows explain that software before it shifts again.
The field is crowded, and it knows it. In August 2026 The Media Leader reported that WhichPodcast classified Business as its most oversaturated podcast category. In September 2026 a research release published by Podnews reported that 82% of surveyed podcast consumers called the host a major or sole reason for listening to their favorite show. Here that cuts both ways, because many hosts also sell agency services, courses or conference tickets. Two arguments run through the field now: how much of a free episode is teaching rather than pitch, and how far marketers should let AI speak for them.
The news desks
Social Media Examiner treats platform news as a team sport. Its Social Media Marketing Talk Show closed its feed with What Facebook's New Link Rules Mean for Your 2026 Strategy. In that episode Michael Stelzner announced that the news reviews were moving into the Social Media Marketing Podcast, with co-host Jerry Potter. The pleasure is hearing a paid feature tested aloud. Asked whether Meta Verified is worth buying, guest Mari Smith calls it "a revenue play" and says, "keep your money, use it on ads."
The Social Media Marketing Podcast pairs those panels with long interviews. In Facebook's 2026 Rules for Reach & Relevance, ads expert Tara Zerker says she is "not feeling the vibes" about an AI-only video feed. Then she complicates her own taste: her husband's Uber driver spent a 40-minute drive listening to nothing but AI content.
Two episodes move faster. SOCIAL IN SIX [102] from SocialMinds - A Social Media Marketing Podcast covers a Meta shopping-chatbot test and TikTok's US local feed in 17 minutes. The Instagram Stories - Social Media News mixes news with interviews. In one, Buffer's Kirsti Lang reports that carousels drew 12% more engagement than reels, "according to our data."
Teachers who also sell
Some of the sharpest instruction comes from people selling the service they describe, and good listening keeps both facts in view. On The Unofficial TikTok Shop Podcast with Jordan West, TikTok Shop 2026 Blueprint (The Creator Strategy Scaling Brands Fast) is recorded live with viewer questions. West argues that a launch should be a coordinated "blitz" of creators posting in one window. Told that a brand had 20 creators post, he answers, "Oh, that's not a blitz." Near the end he says his agency, Social Commerce Club, is booking into February. Treat the tactics as one agency owner's view.
Simple Pin Podcast: Simple ways to boost your business using Pinterest takes a similar approach to Pinterest. The Eras of Pinterest walks through the company's history, down to a name apparently sparked by a Dos Equis commercial, and arrives at what the host calls "the AI slop era." It also invites listeners to book a discovery call. In What’s Working with Pinterest Ads in 2026?, the conversation cites a 40x return on ad spend for one campaign. That is an anecdote, not a forecast.
On Build Your Tribe, Brand Deals in 2026: How to Actually Get Paid (Even Without 10K Followers) - 880 works a creator's rate equation through to a worked example of $250 per reel, while insisting "there is no universal number."
YouTube as the slow channel
YouTube Creators Hub, hosted by Dusty Porter, is best when a guest's numbers undercut the glamour. In The YouTube Strategy That Let Him Quit His Job and Go Hunt Wolves in Alaska, Kurt says he makes "very little from AdSense." YouTube is the marketing funnel for his hunting-consulting business.
Former TV reporter Virginia Kerr hosts The Video Strategy Show: YouTube Tips for Creators Over 40, Video Marketing, Video Content Ideas, Camera Confidence, Video Tips. In 162| Too Old for YouTube? What My 7 Day Video Challenge Taught Me, she turns a dry well into a storytelling lesson. She built a vlog around the problem and reports 99% retention on a 52-second video.
Brands, culture and B2B
Social Pros Podcast suits in-house marketers who are past the basics. In Tech Trends, Toddlers, & Tribalism with Chris Hackney, the guest says AI is at "a toddler stage," so human loops, not the tool, must set direction.
Negronis with Nord keeps culture in view. Influencer Marketing Strategies (with Grace Murray Vazquez) argues that brands neglect people over 35 who spend hours online.
You Herd It Here, hosted by Kassie Meiler, turns a conference into a measurement checklist in Episode 38 - From Feeds to Social Search: What Marketers Need to Know from Ragan Disney Social Media Conference.
LinkedIn marketers should try Social Media for B2B Growth: LinkedIn Strategy for B2B Marketers. In How to Use AI and Automation on LinkedIn Without Getting Banned, Michelle J Raymond warns that people she knows have lost their entire accounts. After that, try the B2B Marketing page. The Small Business Marketing and Content Marketing pages cover nearby subjects, and the Marketing guide and the Business & Finance category guide map the wider field.

Glossary
Terms worth knowing before you listen
The number of people who see a post without paid promotion. It varies widely by platform, algorithm, and content format, and has declined on most platforms over the past decade.
Selling products directly through social platforms — most prominently TikTok Shop — where discovery, influence, and purchase happen inside the same app.
A content creator who promotes a brand's products in exchange for a commission on sales rather than a flat fee. TikTok Shop's affiliate program is the most prominent current example.
Using high-authority third-party platforms (TikTok, Reddit, YouTube, Instagram) to rank content in Google search results instead of a brand's own domain.
Advertising run directly on social platforms — Facebook Ads, TikTok Ads, LinkedIn Campaign Manager — as distinct from organic posts or creator-led promotion.
Paying or partnering with creators who have an existing audience to promote a product or brand. Ranges from nano-influencers (under 10K followers) to celebrities with millions.
