What you'll hear on Business Strategy & Scaling podcasts
A company can post its best sales month and still worry about payroll. A founder can hire people and find sales still depend on her. The best business strategy podcasts start at that kind of snag. They take one real business apart and show where growth turned into strain: a price set in the wrong place, a sales process that depends on one person, a team doing more work for less profit.
The argument among listeners is about how much story they will sit through to get there. In September 2026 one listener on a podcast forum asked for less conversational filler and more help with customer acquisition, pricing, branding and growth. In a May 2026 thread, others objected to rehearsed pitches and polished success narratives. For the wider field, see the Entrepreneurship guide and the Business & Finance category guide.
Shows that work the problem live
The most useful format for a stuck owner is the diagnosis: a founder brings numbers and leaves with a plan.
On The Game with Alex Hormozi, One Step Away From Collapse (Here’s How We Fixed It) | Ep 960 takes a travel business with a trailing 12-month average of $6.4 million and calls it demand-constrained. It then sketches the options aloud: a new channel, a lower cost of acquiring each customer through better creative or conversion work, or simply spending more. The answer it lands on is a steady supply of videos from the company's own travellers. It is fast and confident, sometimes too much so. In How To Stop Solving Problems That Do Not Exist | Ep 956, the show suggests a firm could "probably reduce headcount by 50% using AI workflows." Hear that as one adviser's quick read, and weigh what it would mean for the staff involved.
Honest Wealth Builders slows the same process down. In The Real Reason This $1M Service Business Is Stuck (Aleks Krylov Interview), a New Jersey gutter and roofing owner explains that he does not want to pester past customers. The interviewer pushes back on automated check-ins: "the conversions happen more on a human conversation as opposed to an automated text."
James Sinclair's Business Broadcast wraps its diagnosis in banter with James Burt. In Big Revenue, Seasonal Struggles - The £6M Garden Turf Challenge (4k), the guest explains that a pallet of turf unsold between Friday and Monday can become waste. That turns seasonality into a cash problem.
Where growth meets cash
Several shows insist that revenue proves little until the money arrives.
Profit Answer Man: Scaling with Profit First & Beyond, hosted by Rocky Lalvani, is built on the Profit First method. In Become a Pattern Hunter: Own Your Revenue or Remove the Chaos, Grow Your Profit with Rion Westfall, the guest describes telling the president of a $40 million company to redraw the org chart with no names or titles, only the problems each role solves.
The #WhatsNext Podcast, from chartered accountants Luke Kemeys and Phillip Smith, does the arithmetic in plain view. Why 85% of NZ Businesses Never Hit $1Million in Revenue per year works out that the target means $83,333.33 a month. It then asks whether sales would stop if the owner did.
Scaling Up Business with Bill Gallagher adds the human cost. In The Cost of Hustle: Your Team’s Burnout Is Killing Growth with Paul Austin-Menear, the guest recalls a designer sidelined by a repetitive stress injury, a missed deadline and an unhappy client. Overwork, in that story, was paid for in lost business.
Agencies, consultancies and software
Some shows assume you run a particular kind of firm, which makes them sharper and narrower.
Smart Agency Masterclass with Jason Swenk: Podcast for Digital Marketing Agencies speaks to agency owners. Why Most Agencies Sound the Same and How Yours Can Be Different with David Brier | Ep #874 predicts the answer founders give when asked what sets them apart: "My people, my process, my portfolio."
The Consulting Growth Podcast, hosted by Cardiff University professor Joe O'Mahoney, is more measured. In 46: From Olympic Gold to Consulting Firm Founder with Adrian Moorhouse, Moorhouse describes separating client account management from delivery and funding a new-business team, after which the firm went from six to nine million in a year.
The SaaS Revolution Show, hosted by Alex Theuma, serves software founders. Its Moving from a lifestyle business to a growth business with the CEO of Ticket Tailor includes a signing day that was "literally just me and a lawyer."
Selling, and the longer view
Built to Sell Radio treats the exit as a negotiation in which owners can be outmatched. In Ep 502 The Body Language of a Deal with Christopher Hadnagy, the guest urges sellers to research buyers first and, when offered a number, to ask how it was reached.
On The Agency Profit Podcast, The “Second Bite” Exit Strategy, With Todd Taskey has an investment banker explaining why he projects 10% growth even for clients who have grown 30% a year. These are practitioners describing their own methods. Deal terms and tax depend on the owner and the country.
For wider angles, Masters of Scale turns to large companies in Hailey Bieber, AI and fast launches: how e.l.f. Beauty is winning. 10x Talk lets Dan Sullivan explain why he has had no office in 30 years. Founder journeys have their own home on the Startups & Founder Stories page. On Scaling Up Business with Bill Gallagher, Suneera Madhani's account in Suneera Madhani — From Payments to Purpose with the CEO of Stax of challenging authority as a minority woman points toward the Women in Business page.
