The rundown
What you'll hear on Stockholm podcasts
Listen long enough and Stockholm keeps changing roles. It is a road stop for hockey, the setting for a personal business story, an Olympic host city, a ghost-train destination and, occasionally, a name that sends a crime show somewhere else entirely. The coverage is broad but thin: most shows visit once. Choosing where to begin is mostly a question of tone.
Two very different sports trips
Olympic Size Podcast has the clearest route into the city's sporting past. Episode 14: Stockholm, 1912, Part 1: Point Guard for the Russian Team promises a sustained story rather than a passing reference, with enough specificity in the title to make it the obvious pick for listeners who want historical detail.
Preds Insiders comes at Stockholm through a contemporary team trip. Its formidable title, Willy tells us about the Predators' Stockholm trip, Barry Trotz's Major Moves as the General Manager, and Saros honoring four members of the Preds family for Hockey Fights Cancer (11-19-25), also tells you exactly how much room the city gets: Stockholm shares the episode with management news and a Hockey Fights Cancer segment. This is useful if you already follow the Predators. It is less likely to satisfy someone looking for an episode devoted entirely to the place.
Talking Fussball is looser still. Snooker in Sheffield, a Strawberry in Stockholm, and modest side of Fußball puts the city inside one of the show's characteristically wandering conversations. The show speaks to football-literate listeners, mixing real knowledge with corrections, jokes and side trips. Stockholm sounds like one good digression among several, which may be the appeal.
Personal stories and pastry counters
StartUp Podcast offers the most intimate style among these shows. Its measured, first-person storytelling uses recorded tape, domestic scenes and the host's own uncertainty as part of the narrative. That makes Thanksgiving in Stockholm a better choice for experiencing the city as the setting around people and conversation, rather than hearing a conventional destination guide.
For something much lighter, DÅ ÄR VI IGÅNG goes straight to the pastry counter with STOCKHOLMS BÄSTA KONDITORIER LISTADE. The title is unabashedly practical: a list of Stockholm's best konditorier. There is no grand attempt to explain the city. Sometimes a useful local list is enough.
Victims, spectres and a misleading name
JessiStories Unheard Voices takes the serious route in Stockholm Stories: Victims and Voices in Film — Interview with Mimi Wilcox & Max. The show is built around warm, guest-led conversation and tends to stay close to lived experience, especially when victims or survivors are involved. Answers can wander and double back, but that unguarded quality suits an interview framed around voices rather than detached analysis.
False Walls heads into narrative-history territory with EP 010 - The Spectre of Stockholm - The Ghost Train of Kymlinge. The title makes the attraction plain: this is the atmospheric option, and the ghost train is the draw. Pick it when mood matters more than a rounded portrait of Stockholm.
One warning for city-minded listeners: Take The Money And Run's Stockholm Syndrome points to the syndrome, not Stockholm as a place. It may belong beside true-crime listening, but it is not the episode to choose for the city itself.
Where to start
Begin with Olympic Size Podcast's Episode 14: Stockholm, 1912, Part 1: Point Guard for the Russian Team for the most clearly focused sports story. Choose StartUp Podcast's Thanksgiving in Stockholm when you want a personal, carefully narrated listen. For a darker evening, try False Walls and EP 010 - The Spectre of Stockholm - The Ghost Train of Kymlinge. If your interest is firmly in present-day hockey, Preds Insiders' Willy tells us about the Predators' Stockholm trip, Barry Trotz's Major Moves as the General Manager, and Saros honoring four members of the Preds family for Hockey Fights Cancer (11-19-25) is the direct on-ramp.
