The American Story With Tim Barton argues the founding rather than narrating it: a friendly, conviction-driven interview show that opens on a guest's biography and turns it into a case about faith and public life, with David Barton digging 1789-era law books out of basement boxes in West Hartford and tying the 1962 removal of school prayer to falling SAT scores. Avoiding Biased History sits at the other pole and makes interpretation the subject, following Marcelo Gomes da Silva after six days in an ICE holding cell and weighing Alana Redstone's lesson about trading certainty for confidence. Further back, This Country of Ours, Part 1 reads Henrietta Elizabeth Marshall's 1917 book of stories for children, so its clips are Vikings finding grapes and Pedro Menendez telling French Lutherans in Florida what he intends for them. Transatlantic: An Irish American History Podcast follows one immigrant thread across the whole span, from Jamestown losing two-thirds of its settlers in nine months to Irish units at Bull Run, with hosts who take care to separate opposing slavery from anti-racist belief in the 1850s.

Politics at two speeds

The commentary splits by tempo. Two shows treat entry to the country as law practice.
