What Nashville sounds like on its podcasts
The loudest conversation in Nashville's podcasts is about the Titans' coaching staff. Two Titans shows on this page spent the winter of 2026 on the same story: Music City Audible reacting to Robert Saleh's introductory press conference and weighing Daboll against Kingsbury for offensive coordinator, Football & Other F Words marking the day Brian Daboll got the job and noting that Jelly Roll broke the news before the reporters who cover the team. By April both title runs are draft boards. Around that sit the Predators at the end of a season that came up short, two Nashville SC shows still carrying an Open Cup, and a quieter city: musicians on lessons and sobriety, a baker on a tornado, and 1950s WSM broadcasts in which Minnie Pearl remembers hitting a meat truck. Sports is the largest filing, then Music; straight local news is a small part of the listening.
What Nashville is
Nashville is the capital of Tennessee, on the Cumberland River in the middle of the state. It is called Music City for its country-music industry and the Grand Ole Opry, and it has three major-league teams, the NFL's Titans, the NHL's Predators and MLS's Nashville SC, each with at least one show on this page.
Coaching cycles, a sour ending and an Open Cup
The two Titans shows do not sound alike. Music City Audible, with Justin Graver and Justin Melo, is measured and analytical, moving in long chains from a reported hire to a prior staff connection to what it means for the scheme; its Saleh clip is about football character and how a culture gets built. Football & Other F Words bills itself as the only Titans podcast anyone will ever need, and its Senior Bowl clip is an argument over whether the run blocking was leaky in the second practice. They converge in April: "Building a Titans 3-Round Big Board for 2026 NFL Draft" on one, "Titans Draft Strategies for Rounds 6 & 7 | Football & Other F Words" on the other.
Locked On Predators - Daily Podcast On The Nashville Predators tells the hockey season in its titles, "IT'S OVER | Predators Run At Stanley Cup Playoffs Comes To Sudden End" and then "Sour ENDING | Predators 25-26 Season Concludes With Disappointing Loss To Ducks". Its playable clips come from earlier: a crossover with the Wild that works through Marco Rossi's contract dispute, and a trade-deadline preview that puts the Predators' money at $27.8 million, among the heftiest totals in the NHL. The Game Nashville Sports Network carries Penalty Box Radio on the Predators' playoff push and general-manager search, but what plays from it are Greg Pogue's one-on-ones: Darren Arbet on four Arena League championships and his Hall of Fame induction, and Nolan Smith refusing the Cinderella label before Tennessee State's NCAA tournament appearance.
Nashville SC gets two shows. Pharmaceutical Soccer, described as Nashville's longest running soccer show, is a panel of supporters with the false starts left in; its clips carry the Open Cup run from a Sam Surridge hat trick that sends the club to the final through "Episode 294: US Open Cup Champions", where Hany Mukhtar scores in the final and Surridge finishes with six Open Cup goals. Club and Country measures the same club against its short history: "The Most Important Draw in Nashville SC History" is about Nashville defending by keeping the ball, a change from the Gary Smith era, and "The Electric Gold Are On a Power Surridge" has Surridge leading MLS with seven goals. It also looks up to the USMNT, projecting a roster after two losses and getting sidetracked into why FIFA's contrast rules keep Nashville SC out of blue shorts in CONCACAF play.
Musicians in the room
Music on this page is working musicians in conversation rather than industry news. Roosic, from K.C. Harris and Brian Graham, is the long, leisurely hang: Cannon Moltz says he did not choose country so much as Nashville chose it for him, admits he has started taking piano lessons again and drives out to Clarksville for them, and describes tearing his Achilles and working on with crutches, a scooter and a stage crew. Notable Nashville is ACME Radio live sessions, one act per episode, and the talk earns its place: Jonah Marais, living in Franklin and making a country record, on rebuilding after Why Don't We, COVID, drinking and two years of sobriety; Noah Levine on touring audiences who do not speak English but share the songs. Nashville Lifestyles: The Podcast has Breland explaining that TikTok let "My Truck" skip the usual steps, without a label or the shows along Broadway, and TPAC's Arts Appetizer Podcasts is the Tennessee Performing Arts Center with touring casts, Mrs. Doubtfire, Six, Les Misérables, and an explanation of why hundreds of school buses outside the building are about arts education.
The city's past, read aloud
Grand Ole Opry | OTRWesterns.com restores WSM broadcasts from the 1950s with brief modern introductions, Ray Price, Hank Snow, Ernest Tubb and Stringbean in the titles. What the feed plays is the comedy and the songs: in an October 1958 broadcast Minnie Pearl remembers playing an Army camp, the meat truck on the way in ("Didn't hurt none of us, but scared the liver out of the truck.") and a dressing-room fire in the middle of the show; Stonewall Jackson sings about an 18-year sentence after a barroom confrontation.
Nashville Retrospect is the podcast of the monthly newspaper of the same name, with editor and host Allen Forkum, and its Larry Brinton clip is the strongest piece of memory on the page: Brinton, who learned to type in the Navy and got a job writing obituaries at the Nashville Banner, on the cash-for-clemency scandal, and Marie Rajanti, who told him parole-board members were selling paroles and the governor was involved, and who is still scared to come back to Nashville. Other clips have Jack Knox jumping into the icy Cumberland on Christmas Eve, and the February 2019 issue explaining that fancy girls was newspaper code for girls sold for sex. Skip Nipper’s Nashville Baseball Podcast does the same for one sport, Tom Wilson Park, Herschel Greer Stadium, the Negro Southern League with Mark Aubrey, and titles like "Eddie Crawford, Nashville Vols' First Black Player". NashVillager, from WPLN with host Nina Cardona, is the news show among these, though its clip is history too: how TVA replaced TEPCO after a Supreme Court fight in 1939 and helped create Nashville Electric Service. Music City Murder digs into Nashville-based murders, Vicki Hambrick confronting Andrew Delke in court after his three-year manslaughter sentence among them, and its run also reaches well beyond the city, to Meriwether Lewis and Richard Ramirez.
Kitchens, closings and the rest of working Nashville
Nashville Restaurant Radio sounds like a live industry room, loose and crowded, with quick pivots off an event listing. The titles are the city's kitchens by name, Husk, Miel, Peg Leg Porker, Cumberland Hospitality Group, but the clips go elsewhere: Hunter Briley of The Emeraude Bakery on the March 3, 2020 tornado, when the house fell down on top of them, and on sobriety turning from hanging on into something that hangs on to him now. The Talk of Music City Real Estate Podcast stays close to the transaction: Jonathan Harris on selling a home in 10 to 14 days by exposing one listing to multiple buyer pools, and a year-end episode on moving from annual plans to 12-week sprints. Nashville and Beyond, from Brian and Zach Copeland, is filed under real estate but wanders: its clips are QuiltCon, where Brian saw quilts about resistance, the AIDS crisis and a QR code for the 25th Amendment, and how to travel wisely. Two older shows fill in the rest, NashDev Podcast from the Nashville developer community, on conference accessibility and undefined behavior, and Raising Nashville Podcast, two dads living in Nashville whose clips mostly leave town, Dolly Parton paying Porter Wagoner $2 million after his 1979 lawsuit among them.
