The guide

Inside the world of Tax & Estate Planning podcasts

Start with the questions people postpone: Who can act for you? Which documents matter? When does a tax-saving move create a different problem? Good audio in this corner of personal finance makes those questions manageable without pretending the answers are universal.

Estate planning, talked through

The Legacy and Faith Show takes the measured route. One voice usually carries the explanation while the other asks questions, clarifies, or slips in a dry joke. Legal terms stay intact, then get translated into household situations. The pace leaves room for repetition and qualification, which suits decisions involving family, incapacity, and death.

Its multi-part runs reward listeners who want to settle into a subject. Try 07/01/26 - Healthcare Documents pt.1 before 07/08/26 - Healthcare Documents pt.2. For the wider planning process, begin with 07/15/26 - Peace of Mind in Estate Planning pt.1. The faith-based perspective is explicit in 06/24/26 - The Biblical Basis for Estate Planning.

When the spreadsheet comes out

Your Money, Your Wealth is brisker. The hosts work through figures aloud, revise assumptions, and keep the conclusion conditional. Tax brackets, account balances, spending, longevity, and goals all remain in play.

That style fits choices where timing matters. Roth Conversions: When to Pay Taxes NOW is a clean entry point. Roth Conversions vs. RMDs: Which Tax Bill Hurts More? - 587 sharpens the comparison, while These Tax Strategies Let You Spend More in Retirement connects tax planning to the money a listener can actually use.

Maggi Tax and Financial Show offers another direct route into conversion questions through Episode 20250412 - Roth Conversions and Tax Efficient Planning. Its Episode 20260411 - RMDs is the narrower follow-up.

Documents, duties, and family friction

The Death Readiness Podcast: Not your dad’s estate planning podcast goes straight toward the jobs and conversations people would rather avoid. Its titles are unusually practical: How assets get lost after death and what to do, Why saying yes to serving as agent under a POA can backfire, and How to Prevent your Estate Plan from Becoming a Family Battlefield.

If the question grows beyond tax and estate mechanics, move up to Personal Finance. For the full retirement picture, choose Retirement Planning; to shift toward leaving work earlier, head to FIRE & Financial Independence. Budgeting, Saving & Debt Payoff belongs further upstream, where the immediate concern is cash flow rather than transferring or protecting an estate.

Where to start

Choose 07/15/26 - Peace of Mind in Estate Planning pt.1 for a patient overview. Pick Roth Conversions: When to Pay Taxes NOW for live tax analysis. For a concrete estate-administration question, use How assets get lost after death and what to do.

Glossary

Words hosts use without explaining

Roth conversion

Moving money from a pre-tax account (traditional IRA or 401(k)) to a Roth account and paying income tax on the converted amount now, in exchange for tax-free growth and no required minimum distributions later.

Required minimum distribution (RMD)

The IRS-mandated annual withdrawal from pre-tax retirement accounts, beginning at age 73 as of 2026. RMDs are treated as ordinary income and can push retirees into higher tax brackets.

IRMAA

Income-Related Monthly Adjustment Amount — a Medicare premium surcharge applied to higher-income beneficiaries. Large Roth conversions or RMDs can trigger IRMAA for two years following the income spike.

Probate

The court-supervised legal process for validating a will and distributing a deceased person's estate. Probate is public, time-consuming, and costly — often avoidable with proper trust structures and beneficiary designations.

Power of attorney (POA)

A legal document granting a named agent authority to make financial or healthcare decisions on someone's behalf. A durable POA remains effective if the principal becomes incapacitated.

TCJA expiration

The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 lowered individual income tax brackets on a temporary basis through 2025. Whether Congress extends those provisions affects Roth conversion planning for anyone converting in 2025–2026.
