Inside the world of Stock Trading & Options podcasts
Picture a trader who collects a small credit for selling an options spread, knowing the most she can lose is several times what she took in. The best shows in this corner of finance stay with that arithmetic: what was collected, what is at risk, what happens if the stock runs the wrong way, and how the trader behaves after the third loss in a row.
These shows also sit inside a live argument about whether listening sharpens judgment or breeds dependence on other people's calls. In July 2026 the University of Georgia reported a study finding a 22% reduction in information asymmetry associated with podcast discussions, though the podcasts it examined were listed between 2008 and 2022. That same month, one options feed promoted a supposedly risk-free technique. Explanation and salesmanship share the medium, so the useful question is which shows actually explain.
Taking a trade apart
Options Boot Camp is the liveliest classroom. Mark Longo and Dan Passarelli build trades from listener questions and price them aloud. In Options Boot Camp 380: Let's Get Dangerous with 0DTE Iron Condors, the hosts say an iron condor on Apple could bring in 60 cents against a maximum risk of a buck ninety. The example comes with a caveat: volatility was running higher after a sell-off driven by war in the Middle East. The jokes do real work too. A later episode explains that Options Boot Camp 384: Options Fool's Day did the opposite of all the advice the show had ever given.
Options Playbook Radio, with Ally Invest's Brian Overby, also works from listener mail. In OPR 447: Huddling Up About 0 DTE Gamma Bombs, someone asks whether selling zero-day puts is worth it. The answer leans toward buying instead, because of how explosively these contracts can move. Those episodes date from early 2023, so treat them as mechanics, not news. For a plainer route, The Disciplined Traders Podcast - Master the Market. Build Wealth. Stay Disciplined spends 16 minutes on What Is a Credit Spread? Strategy Breakdown for Swing Traders. It covers defined risk, liquidity and the capped upside, and it calls naked option selling super risky.
The Option Alpha Podcast is where theory meets the order ticket. 242: Checklist Before Going "Live" With Real Money warns that paper trading can flatter an order, because in live markets "Orders do not equal fills."
The view from the industry
Options Insider Radio Interviews turns from the trader's screen to the people who build the market. In OIC 2026: Brazil's Options Boom and the Next Frontier for Global Investors, a guest describes retail clients who bought knockout calls. They watched the stock rise while the option went to zero, with no idea what had happened. OIC 2025 Conversations: Talking 0DTE, 24-Hour Trading and Spooky Volatility with Tradier weighs a cash-settled class of single-stock options, and one guest argues that exercise and assignment are where retail traders really get hurt.
Options Insider Special Events carries the conference panels. On OIC 2025: Shaping the Future of Options Education, a panelist says of newcomers, "they don't know what they don't know." The Options Insider 2025 Year-End Spectacular replays a year of listener polls against outcomes. It is humbling: most voters expected the VIX to end August nearer the 20 handle, and it sat near 15.
Drawdowns, method and who is selling what
Chat With Traders and Better System Trader are interview shows about how a method survives losses. New host Kevin Avery's $1,900 Small Cap Trader Who Hit $2.9 Mil in Profits runs 105 minutes, and the guest calls his pandemic run luck, "when preparation meets opportunity." On Better System Trader, Laurens Bensdorp says he runs 55 non-correlated systems. He warns that "your largest drawdown is always in the future" and plans for one at least double his backtest.
Ryan Mallard of Swing Trading the Stock Market supplies the arithmetic. In Finding a Trading Mentor he dissects a trader's reported 37 percent drawdown and notes that climbing back from it requires a 59 percent move.
Incentives deserve the same scrutiny. In The Trump Tweet. How to Survive! | STR 532, Clay of The Stock Trading Reality Podcast concedes his advice is "essentially going to be a sales pitch" for prop firms. THETA GANG's host reads out his gains for the year while pitching a $40-a-month Patreon. Trading Tips With Jim Stromberg sets a personal $20 target for NIO that he says "may not happen at all." These are the hosts' positions, not recommendations.
The mind behind the trade
Some shows are for traders who know the mechanics and still break their rules. The Spiritual Trader tells short stories about traders such as Marcus and Ryan, then lands a lesson. The Night You Almost Quit reminds listeners that "You can flip a fair coin and get tails seven times in a row." In [FINAL EPISODE] 25 Years of Trading Wisdom – What I’d Tell Every Trader, The Trader's Mindchat Show explains why a 50% loss needs a 100% gain to recover. On TradingLife Podcast with Brad Jelinek, Mentorship Podcast #2 is coaching in public: a guest describes becoming one with the screen and being unable to stop.
