What Photography podcasts actually cover
Partway through an episode of FroKnowsPhoto Photography Podcasts, a host admits he removed a trash can from the background of a picture, then hesitates. It made a better image, he says, but he would feel differently if the object were integral, and entering a contest would change things. Photography podcasts are at their best in moments like that, when a small edit becomes a question about what a photograph may claim.
That question runs through the field in 2026. In July 2026, B&H announced that its photography podcast was moving to video in a dedicated studio, which shows that not every show is built for listening alone. A September 2026 specialist guide sorted photography podcasts into camera instruction, creative interviews, industry news and business advice. Listeners divide along similar lines. Some want gear news. Some say gear talk mainly feeds the urge to buy. Many working photographers want shows made for photographers rather than shows about photography.
The long conversation about the work
PhotoWork with Sasha Wolf - Photography Podcast treats photographs as things made over years. In Curran Hatleberg on Revisiting Past Work, Staying Present, and the Ethics of his Practice - Episode 106, Wolf names a problem: "this is audio and folks won't be able to see what we're talking about." She asks where the pictures cut from River's Dream lived while they kept nagging at him. In Jess T. Dugan & Charlotte Cotton on Collaboration, Community, and the Evolution of Love Pictures. - Episode 108, Cotton admits her side of the book's interviews read like nonsense on the page. It is a frank view of how a photobook gets edited.
Open Curtain, hosted by Carter Johnston, is looser and more biographical. Janet Delaney recalls a high school drafting class that was only for boys. Bryan Schutmaat explains that his Guggenheim arrived in increments rather than as one cathartic letter.
Visual Revolutionary talks to working professionals. Cycling photographer Harry Talbot calls the photography the easy part compared with the logistics of a 21-stage race, though host Rick warns early that the talk goes deep into cycling.
ASMP Experts & Masters is more sober. In Ep 26 - Robert Seale, Seale says corporate style guides now look interchangeable and that business tasks take 80 or 90 percent of a photographer's time.

Gear, news and the urge to buy
FroKnowsPhoto Photography Podcasts is the loudest room here. TAMRON Goes PRO, Sony Raids the Parts Bin & MORE! RAWtalk 204 wanders through a lawn mower, Shopify shipping and ants. It also diagnoses a friend's settings from a picture of his camera. In Is Canon FINALLY Giving In??? Sony's NEXT Camera is…RAWtalk 202, a host reports green and magenta fringing around his niece's white communion dress, shot with an inexpensive Canon 45mm. Expect banter and drift.
Liam Photography Podcast is calmer. In Episode 501: Remote Cameras, Horst Faas, Artemis II, the host reads coverage of the dispute over credit for a photograph attributed to Nick Ut, then says he cannot see Faas swapping a credit. In Episode 460: Adobe Tracking, Perovskite Sensor, 360 Mic Air, Adobe's generative credits become a workflow question.
Lessons for the next shoot
So you want to be a photographer: Transform your skills and build a profitable photography business pairs Gina Milicia with Valerie Khoo. In PHOTO 373: How Luci Valentine learned off-camera flash in one week, Valentine admits that as a daylight loyalist, "my eyes were not trained to see the beauty of a lit photo." PHOTO 374: The final episode is Khoo's tribute after Milicia died on 6 February 2022, so the run is complete.
Travel & Adventure Photography School offers a solo lesson. In It's Time to Talk about the Magic Hours in Photography, the host says that 10 to 15 minutes after sunset's last colours, 75% of people have left the iconic spots, and he sometimes shoots more freely without feeling judged. I Like Your Picture, with William and Lee Beem, argues in 10 Secrets About Composition that rules are mostly guidelines. Its example is a yacht portrait whose subject looked like a mannequin.
Specialists teach the same way. On Wildlife Photo Chat, guest Ben Knoot describes handholding a tenth of a second on mirrorless. Toy Photographers Podcast spends part of Geometry - what’s it good for? on how a figure's arm angle changes its mood.
Who stands in front of the lens
In TTIM 191 – Ibarionex Perello and Diversity in Photography from The Traveling Image Makers, the host questions his own golden rule for photographing strangers. As a white man, he concedes, he may not feel what a woman of color in front of the camera feels. Perello describes working with 50, 35 or 28mm lenses and smiling or talking when someone notices. He also describes people who feel denied dignity when no one asks. For the Joy of Photography takes a blunter line in Episode 23: For the Joy of Photography - Has Unsplash.com Ruined Photography?, where Anthony Morganti compares resisting free stock sites to a gnat steering an elephant.
Where to start
- If the work matters more than the kit: PhotoWork with Sasha Wolf - Photography Podcast, April Watson - Episode 101, which includes a conversation about the craft of the darkroom.

After a few of these, you may start checking where the light is hitting instead of watching where the sun goes down.
