About International Award Winning Landscape Photographers Sir Peter Eastway, Tony Hewitt and Carwyn chat to some Lightminded Friends.

Light Minded is a photography conversation show with an easy Western Australian rhythm. It is casual, but the subject matter is serious enough to reward close listening. Episodes gather photographers, artists, Camera Electronic figures, workshop leaders, and community voices around the practical choices that shape images. The show spends time with landscape photography, but it does not stay boxed inside one genre. Street photography, portrait work, storm chasing, public light art, drones, underwater tools, workshops, and camera clubs all sit comfortably in its range. Juan Carlos Osma’s episode links a Perth exhibition with ballet, choreography, coaching, and the pressure of performing with presence. Kari Kola’s conversation turns LIGHTING THE SOUND ALBANY into a study of outdoor art, weather, logistics, and photographic opportunity. That episode also gets pleasingly technical, with advice about wide-angle lenses, clouds, shadows, low angles, and the limits of stitching when water or sky is moving. Jesse Marlow’s visit brings a street photographer’s view of influence, travel, unfamiliar places, and the visual possibilities of Fremantle. The show is interested in cameras, but it is just as interested in the person carrying one. Jordan Cantelo’s flashback episode catches the obsession and luck involved in storm photography. Tech talk with Howard widens the frame to DJI gear, drone rules, CASA, tourist-location restrictions, Rottnest Island, and underwater drones. Community matters here. Camera Electronic, WAPF, GEM, Photo Live, workshops, walks, talks, and exhibitions all appear as part of the same living scene. The show’s style is direct and matey. It leaves in the banter, the local references, and the practical asides. That looseness is part of the appeal. The best moments sound like working photographers comparing notes after a shoot. For listeners who want polished theory, it may feel too conversational. For photographers who care about how pictures are actually made, it offers texture, specificity, and useful judgment.

Made for: This show suits photographers who enjoy practical craft talk, Western Australian photography culture, and candid conversations with people making images in the field. It is especially useful for listeners interested in landscape, street, portrait, storm, drone, and public-art photography.

What sets it apart: Light Minded stands apart through its local specificity and workshop-floor practicality. Rather than treating photography as abstract inspiration, it follows real exhibitions, real locations, real camera choices, and the messy logistics behind getting the shot.

In their own words
