More Than Medicine

More Than Medicine is a Christian interview and devotional show shaped by the voice of a country doctor, a family ministry, and a strong belief that faith should speak directly to public life. Its episodes do not keep Bible study, health, politics, and family in separate boxes. They are treated as one field of responsibility. In the Devotions with Dr. Papa episodes, Genesis becomes the anchor. Noah’s altar, God’s promise after the flood, the covenant sign of the rainbow, and the image of God are read slowly and applied with a preacherly sense of certainty. The language is plain. The implications are large. A short passage can become a reflection on grace, worship, human dignity, the care of animals, or the sovereignty of God over creation. The show also makes room for long-form guests. Rebecca Terrell appears in a medical freedom conversation centered on vaccine mandates, childhood vaccines, pharmaceutical influence, and distrust of official health institutions. Gary Dawson brings a missionary narrative from the Yanomamo people, with dramatic details about village life, shamanic activity, family connection, and spiritual confrontation. Joe Wolverton appears across constitutional episodes, arguing about nullification, term limits, the Constitutional Convention, state power, and federal limits. Those interviews are less debate than extended explanation. The host sets the frame, invites the guest to speak, and usually treats the answer as a lesson to be received. The show’s strength is its consistency. It knows its audience and speaks to them without much hedging. Its weakness, for some listeners, will be the same quality: claims are often moralized quickly, and opposing views are not usually explored with patience. For Christian listeners who want devotional teaching joined to current-events conviction, More Than Medicine offers a steady, familiar rhythm. It is warm in manner, grave in stakes, and convinced that Scripture remains the final lens for medicine, culture, and civic life.
