Hot House Hours: Essential House Music Mix

Hot House Hours is a house and dance music mix show focused on what is new, imminent, and moving through the club circuit. The episodes are built for momentum. Dave Baker usually opens with a fast, playful preview, naming the week’s featured artists and setting expectations for the shape of the mix. Then the music takes over. Recent episodes lean heavily on tracks not yet on public release, with intros calling out counts such as 29 out of 33 tracks, 21 out of 28 tracks, or nearly a full episode’s worth of material still ahead of general release. Freshness is not a side note here. It is the show’s main engine. The selections move across soulful openings, broader dance records, mainstream hooks, tech house drive, and more underground or melodic sections later in the run. That gives the show a full-evening feel without turning it into a lecture on genres. The tone is upbeat and self-aware. Baker keeps the framing short, but he works in puns, chart references, holiday jokes, social media asides, and comments about quick transitions or extended mixes. The recurring geography is club-coded too, with the show repeatedly positioning itself from Miami to Ibiza and around the world. The artist names in recent episodes are substantial: Joel Corry, James Hype, Fedde Le Grand, Roger Sanchez, Low Steppa, Vintage Culture, Anyma, FISHER, Tones and I, Steve Aoki, Afrojack, Armand Van Helden, Todd Terry, Claptone, CamelPhat, Mark Knight, KSHMR, MORTEN, Fred again, Sonny Fodera, John Summit, Don Diablo, and deadmau5 all appear in its episodes. The show is not mainly about interviews or scene analysis. It is about sequencing, impact, and giving new tracks a public runway. The first hour can be tighter and more accessible, especially where radio pacing is mentioned. After the 60-minute mark, the sound may drift less commercial. Some episodes also note possible bad language later in the mix. For house listeners who care about current releases and energetic progression, Hot House Hours works like a weekly scan of what is about to hit.
