Drop Everything with Dan Holzman

Drop Everything with Dan Holzman is a long-form interview show rooted in juggling culture, but its range is wider than balls, clubs, and rings. Dan Holzman talks with performers who came to object manipulation through different doors. Some arrived through baton twirling. Some came through clowning, street performance, rope walking, partner work, or online tutorials. The show usually begins with biography. Where was the guest born. What was the family background. When did the first skill take hold. From there, the conversation moves into practice, teachers, festival culture, performance opportunities, and the strange practical details that only working performers know. Cody Carter’s episode turns baton twirling into a bridge between athletics, choreography, three-baton technique, scholarships, and performing for stadium crowds. Tim Air Walker’s conversation gets deep into clubs, flat fronts, planes, poi vocabulary, video influence, and the decision to build a style around a narrower set of tools. Rhys Thomas brings in comedy juggling, rope walking, improvised rigs, unicycle tricks, risk, and the way a limitation can become part of an act. Iman Lissarazu’s episode widens the frame again, moving from Basque background and clowning into teaching, nose making, and the emotional force of laughter in places marked by illness and despair. Lucy Antonia Eden’s conversation has the feel of a performer tracing the distance from learning alone to working with partners, doing rough street shows, and finding a place in the juggling family. The show is warm without being glossy. It lets technical terms appear naturally, then slows down enough for context. It also has a steady affection for the International Jugglers Association, conventions, workshops, and the network of people who keep the scene alive. The best moments are often practical: what a rig is made from, how a trick is learned, why a prop matters, or how a bad first show still counts. For listeners who like craft conversations, it offers a quiet archive of performer memory.
