About CropTalk

CropTalk is an industry interview show about controlled environment agriculture, with a special focus on greenhouses, leafy greens, strawberries, AgTech, and the economics behind modern production. It is not a broad gardening program. The conversations are built for people who understand that crop quality, capital structure, technology choices, retailer relationships, and team execution all meet inside the same facility. Recent episodes spend serious time on where CEA stands after a turbulent investment cycle. Dave Chen discusses mature greenhouse categories, leafy greens market share, retailer adoption, consolidation, and the challenge of building exits once companies reach meaningful scale. Adam Bergman brings a financing lens, explaining how weak exit history, bankruptcies, fire sales, and investor hesitation affect the next wave of ag and food tech companies. The show also keeps returning to a grounded question: what actually works? Paul Sellew’s episode frames successful greenhouse companies against more fragile vertical farming and SPAC-era stories, with emphasis on fundamentals over spectacle. Adam Greenberg’s prediction episode turns toward AI, variance detection, digital twins, and tools that help growers spot problems before they spread. That technology conversation still stays tethered to practical use. The leafy greens series is especially operational, moving through mobile gully systems, water quality, climate steering, load cell scales, manual weights, rolling averages, production cycles, and communication with sales teams. The strawberry roundtable is similarly hands-on. Plant quality, propagation, genetics, disease pressure, crown damage, substrate changes, fungicide decisions, forecasting, labor, and margins all become part of a larger picture of a sector trying to mature. CropTalk also uses series formats well. One-on-one interviews establish separate perspectives, then roundtables bring growers, researchers, propagators, and operators into the same conversation. The result feels less like promotion and more like an ongoing shop-floor and boardroom debrief for CEA insiders. It can be technical. That is the point. The show is most useful when it asks where optimism survives contact with perishable products, thin margins, and real facilities.

Made for: CropTalk is for CEA growers, greenhouse operators, AgTech founders, investors, suppliers, and serious industry watchers. It best suits listeners who want practical context rather than surface-level optimism.

What sets it apart: The show connects finance, technology, and crop production without treating them as separate worlds. Its series-and-roundtable format lets operational details, investor pressure, and grower judgment challenge each other directly.
