Getting into Real Estate Investing Strategies podcasts
A rental that pays for itself on a spreadsheet becomes a different object once a foundation sinks, a three-year loan comes due or a tenant stops paying. The investing shows worth hearing work in that gap. They put a real property, loan or partner on the table and ask what it costs. The argument around them now is about whose interests the advice serves. In a May 2026 Reddit discussion, one commenter praised data-heavy market analysis while another complained of gurus and course selling. In an August 2026 post, a self-described podcast guest described interviews that became sales pitches after recording stopped; that account is uncorroborated. It still supplies the right question for any episode: is this helping me judge a decision, or selling me one?
Watching a deal get judged
Pizza and Property, hosted by Todd Sloan, takes houses apart in front of you. In Ep 340: 1 House, 3 Strategies: Granny Flat, Subdivision or 9 Townhouses? -with Rob Flux, Oliver Jackson, Hayden Warren, & Todd Sloan, the panel puts a granny flat's rent "around the 380 to 400 mark" and costs out separate meters and services. Then it dismisses one site: "you'd have to give me this block of land for free. And even then I wouldn't want it."
Real Estate Investing Mastery Podcast, from Joe McCall, brings the same nerve to vacant land. I Called 2 Realtors and Got Off-Market Land Deals » 1435 filters recent Florida sales to zip codes with a median price of 40 grand or more and a sell-through rate of 80% or more. It then lets calls with agents play out on air. This is prospecting rather than theory, and it includes phone work.
Starting with the house you live in
Real Estate Rookie, hosted by Ashley Kehr and Tony J Robinson, keeps the stakes domestic. In Making $1,200/Month by Turning His Home Into a Cash-Flowing Rental, a guest named Alex explains renting out his family's home of about six years. He showed it to 10 to 12 people and chose a tenant who saw it only by virtual walkthrough. The hosts compare screening rules, such as income of two and a half or three times the rent. The Property Management & Landlording page takes that thread further.
Master Passive Income en Español covers similar ground in Spanish. In Descubre House Hacking: Inversión Inteligente en Bienes Raíces, Juan Lizarazo explains living in a duplex, triplex or fourplex bought with an FHA loan, which he describes as needing 3.5 or 5% down. In Casa unifamiliar o multifamiliar: qué conviene comprar primero si estás empezando en bienes raíces he advises beginners to start with a single-family house. Loan rules shift, so the Mortgages & Housing Market page is a useful companion.
Putting money into someone else's deal
Listeners who want to invest passively alongside a sponsor need shows that teach suspicion. Investing In The U.S., hosted by Reed Goossens, spends Red Flags in a Real Estate Sponsor and How to Spot Them w/ Brian Burke on waterfalls, fees and underwriting. A preferred return is explained by one speaker as the first share of cash flow going to investors before the sponsor is paid, with a warning that it could discourage the sponsor from staying if the deal goes bad. Projections that need a 3% refinance rate or 5% rent growth are flagged as warning signs. Fees, one speaker concedes, are "a necessary evil in this business."
Launch REI's How to Invest in Real Estate Syndications and Build Passive Income raises concentration risk. Its guest recalls a first syndication that earned a 5% IRR over three or four years, with a capital call and a hurricane along the way.
Multifamily Insights turns the suspicion on the industry itself. In Don't Fall for These Scams as an Apartment Investor, Ep. 778, John Casmon covers wholesalers marketing properties they hold no contract on and contractors inflating invoices. Then he warns: "There are people who are coaching multifamily who don't know how to buy multifamily."
Hosts with something to sell
Disclosure varies. On Property Profits Real Estate Podcast, Dave DeBow promotes his own website and invites investors to apply as guests. Even so, The Multifamily Equity Rescue Strategy with Nate Armstrong is concrete. The guest says multifamily loans from 2021 and 2022 with three-year terms are coming due, and his Atlanta deal arrived through a limited partner about to be wiped out. Real Estate Investing Mastery Podcast's (Audio) 764 » Free Coaching Call Replay & Deal Evaluation works through listeners' stalled deals while steering them toward a coaching application. None of this disqualifies a show. It means a guest's claims are a pitch until you have checked them.
When the numbers break
In Vacation Rental Revolution Podcast: Building Lifestyle & Financial Freedom With Short-Term Rentals, Episode 358 - *Learn From His Advice!* Member Shares Advice On Rehabbing A Property, a guest who once held 21 long-term rentals describes a rehab budget that "got blown up by literally a hundred percent or more." Part of the reason was one section with no foundation that was probably built for livestock.
On the Rental Property Owner & Real Estate Investor Podcast, Quentin West recalls arbitrage, which he describes as leasing homes with a landlord's permission to sublet on Airbnb. He set up several units at once and within five months had drained himself and his company to where most people would file bankruptcy.
The Truth About Real Estate Investing... for Canadians goes furthest in 70 Properties. Private Money. Mental Breakdown. The Truth About Scaling Real Estate. The episode dwells on a broker paying lenders interest before their money was deployed, and on investors who lost everything.

Terms worth knowing before you listen
Buy, Rehab, Rent, Refinance, Repeat. A strategy for recycling capital: buy a distressed property, renovate it, rent it out, refinance to pull equity back out, then repeat with the next property.
Annual pre-tax cash flow divided by total cash invested. A measure of actual cash yield that accounts for financing, unlike cap rate which ignores loan structure.
Accessory Dwelling Unit. A secondary housing unit on a single-family lot — a garage apartment, basement suite, or backyard cottage — that can generate rental income from the same parcel.
A deal where the seller acts as the lender: the buyer makes payments directly to the seller instead of obtaining a bank mortgage. Can allow creative terms including lower interest rates or deferred down payments.
Buying the debt side of a real estate transaction rather than the property itself. A note investor holds the mortgage and receives payments, with the property as collateral.
Net operating income divided by property value or purchase price. Used to compare properties before financing is introduced. A 5% cap rate means the property earns 5% of its value as net income annually.
