What you'll hear on Mortgages & Housing Market podcasts
A housing headline is easy to repeat. A useful podcast has to make it actionable: what the numbers mean for a buyer, why a lender’s process matters, or whether a financing move still fits once the risks are counted.
The strongest listening here moves between two scales. Some shows stay close to the household decision; others explain the machinery behind mortgage lending and market access.
From charts to closings
Power House sounds like an industry conversation among people who work inside mortgage and housing. The pace is measured, the questions are practical, and technical language usually leads back to execution.
Listeners trying to connect market data with real transactions have their clearest entry in From charts to closings: What you should be watching in the market. The show also takes housing access seriously. Dave Savage: Why trust is the real barrier to homeownership frames that problem around something less tidy than rates or inventory, while Patty Arvielo on leadership, housing access, and industry change widens it to the industry itself.
This is the place to listen when “the housing market” feels too vague. Power House keeps returning to the people and processes that turn broad conditions into approvals, relationships, and closed deals.
The homeowner-facing version
Real Estate Today works at a brisker, more consumer-friendly pace. Questions are direct, explanations stay plain, and the conversation tends to end with something a buyer or seller can actually consider doing.
Its Spring 2026 Real Estate Market, published April 7, 2026, is the obvious snapshot for that season. There is less appetite here for extended industry theory. The appeal is translation: taking market conditions and bringing them down to the level of timing, preparation, and price.
Get Real With Eddie uses blunter hooks. Here's the Housing Market Split Nobody's Talking About points toward a divided market, while What Happens to REAL ESTATE During a Recession? asks the question many listeners reach for when economic anxiety rises. Skipping Inspection CAN Be a Costly Mistake! shifts from market mood to a concrete buyer risk. Those titles make the show a useful stop for listeners who prefer the question stated plainly before they press play.
Financing becomes a property decision
Real Estate Rookie approaches money from the perspective of someone trying to make an early investment work. The show’s coaching style is warm and operational, with financing terms quickly pulled into ordinary choices about property type, time, and risk.
How to Use Home Equity to Buy Your Next Rental Property (3 Ways) (Rookie Reply) goes straight at leverage. Should You Buy a Single-Family Rental or a Duplex? (Rookie Reply) puts financing beside the asset decision rather than treating the loan as a separate subject. For listeners deciding where geography fits, Local vs. Out-of-State Investing: Where to Buy Your First Rental (Rookie Reply) adds another practical fork in the road.
This is the most useful show here once market listening turns into, “What could I realistically buy?”

Property Management & Landlording is for the operating work: tenants, rent, and the responsibilities that begin after purchase. Real Estate Investing Strategies goes further into portfolio choices and methods for building returns. Stay on this page when the main question is how housing conditions and mortgage decisions shape the transaction itself.

Glossary
A quick Mortgages & Housing Market glossary
Net operating income divided by annual debt payments. Lenders use it to measure whether a property earns enough to cover its mortgage. A DSCR below 1.0 means the property cannot service its debt from income alone.
The loan amount divided by the appraised property value, expressed as a percentage. Lenders use LTV to assess risk; higher LTV means less equity cushion and typically higher rates or PMI requirements.
A mortgage with an interest rate that resets periodically after an initial fixed period. Rates can rise or fall with a benchmark index, making monthly payments unpredictable over time.
The number of homes or properties actively listed for sale in a market at a given time. Low inventory means fewer choices for buyers and upward pressure on prices; high inventory favors buyers.
Home equity that owners cannot access or deploy because selling would require giving up a low fixed-rate mortgage and buying at current higher rates. Reduces supply even when prices rise.
Net operating income divided by purchase price. A quick way to compare income yield across commercial properties before financing. Lower cap rates mean higher prices relative to income.
