A field guide

Getting into Real Estate podcasts

A house price is a single number. The payment that follows it can last years, and the best real estate podcasts spend their time there: on the renewal letter, the deposit stuck in the wrong account, the apartment loan that comes due in three years instead of ten. At their most useful they slow a transaction down until you can see who carries the risk, who gets paid, and what happens when the numbers are wrong. This page sorts the field by the question you bring to it.

The range is wide, from local market reads in Ottawa and Utah to a homebuilder interviewing an engineer in Danish, German property-law sessions and Spanish-language talk about Vail. Many hosts sell what they discuss, as brokers, mortgage agents, coaches or syndicators. Edison Research reported in March 2026 that 57% of Americans aged 12 and over had both listened to and watched a podcast. That is a general figure, not a real estate one, but several shows here sign off by asking you to watch.

The arguments around the genre concern trust. Listeners debate whether shows analyse or advertise, and whether a host who hedges a forecast is being evasive or honest. The professional agenda has turned towards hard choices: in September 2026, Commercial Property Executive's podcast series took up rescue financing for troubled properties and whether hybrid work helps or holds back women's careers.

Reading the market, one payment at a time

Local market shows earn their place when they turn a headline into a monthly cost. In Is This Still a Seller's Market? August Real Estate Numbers Breakdown | The Buff Show, recorded inside one of the hosts' listings in North Ogden, The BUFFS Show compares a 2021 purchase at around 3%, with 20% down and a payment near $1,500, against today's $525,000 median at 6.67%, which comes out around $2,700.

The Ottawa Real Estate Podcast, hosted by mortgage agents Paul Stevenson and David Warren, is sharper on the mechanics that sink deals. In Why Your Home Deal Is Falling Apart (And How to Avoid It), a host reports lenders telling him they had dropped blanket appraisals on new builds, and a buyer's $10,000 deposit sits in an FHSA that takes "two, three days to settle." The rules are Canadian; the lesson about reaching your money in time travels.

U.S. Home Talk is a friendlier panel. In New Construction Or Existing Home Pros And Cons, it notes that Sioux Falls requires builders to plant two trees before an occupancy certificate is granted. Fried on Business stretches towards commercial property: in The Interest Rate Problem: Why CRE Has Changed, Jim Fried names the cost and availability of capital as the issue and concedes, "I can't see the future." The Mortgages & Housing Market page goes further.

Raising other people's money

Scale up from your own house to a syndication, where strangers wire money to an operator. Diary of an Apartment Investor, hosted by Brian Briscoe, is at its best when guests talk about walking away. In EXP - Avoiding Mistakes With Paul Moore, Moore describes stopping a closing after the money was already wired. He argues that "boring syndicators, boring investors trade FOMO for FOMU," trading the fear of missing out for the fear of messing up. He even cites Warren Buffett's view that the S&P 500 suits the average person.

The Property Profits Real Estate Podcast is brisker. In The Multifamily Equity Rescue Strategy with Nate Armstrong, which runs 18 minutes, Armstrong explains that loans taken in 2021 and 2022 with three-year terms were expiring. He describes an Atlanta deal that reached him because a limited partner was about to be wiped out. This is one operator's case for his own model, not a neutral survey.

Westside Investors Network (WIN) offers rarer candour. In 173. Drop & Swap Explained: How Syndicators Handle 1031 Exchange with Dugan Kelley, the hosts admit they had not yet told partners about a pending sale because earlier sales fell through. The Real Estate Investing Strategies page and the Investing guide pick up from here.

Landlords, holiday lets and the booking calendar

After the purchase comes the upkeep.

Short-term rental shows are most useful when guests confess their costs. In Episode 358 - *Learn From His Advice!* Member Shares Advice On Rehabbing A Property, a guest on the Vacation Rental Revolution Podcast: Building Lifestyle & Financial Freedom With Short-Term Rentals says his budget "got blown up by literally a hundred percent or more."

The Heads In Beds Show, with Conrad O'Connell and Paul Manzey, is for the marketer. In The 60-Day Booking Window Is Dead - Here's What To Do About It, one host argues that late discounting trains guests to book late: "We teach the guest to wait." In German, Fewo-Angels: Ferienwohnungen erfolgreich vermieten offers #214 Strategisch mehr Buchungen (3/4): Knack den Algorithmus, where Annik argues that platforms promote listings likely to be booked on the platform, with price decisive. See the Property Management & Landlording page.

The agent's side of the table

The Oakwyn Podcast, with Morgan Browne and Michael Uy, takes its time. Ep. 319: Prospecting Made Simple spends its early minutes on hotel ghost stories before reaching its point. A host recalls an agent doing six sales in a month, then going four months without one. We Are Selling with Lee Woodward is procedural. Real Estate And AML, Explained brings in a former policeman and regulator and makes the point that "low risk doesn't mean no risk."

The most humane episode belongs to Appraisal Buzzcast. In How to Commit Mortgage Fraud: A Cautionary Tale, hosted by Hal Humphreys with Jim Morrison, former agent Portia Louder describes taking a home equity line of credit against her house to close on lots. She recalls appraisers charging $5,000 per report ("a bell should be going off") and talks about what her conviction cost her children. The Sales and Careers guides follow these threads.

Commercial property, debt and the law

The Crexi Commercial Real Estate Podcast | CRE Insights & Strategies is collegial and long. In David Auerbach & Understanding REITs Beyond The Headlines, which runs 95 minutes, Auerbach argues that listed REITs deserve a slice of a portfolio, partly because you can drive past their buildings. Treat that as his view. He is better on analysts' incentives, asking, "Does Amazon truly warrant 60 buy ratings?"

The Best Of Scott Carson collects Carson's guest appearances on buying mortgage debt. In How to Be the Bank & Earn BIG Returns - Bigger Life Podcast Weekdays with Ray Bansal, which switches into German partway, he says 95% of his purchases use other people's money. He also says his early mistake was trying to foreclose on everything.

Immowissen à la ivia akademie works through German condominium law. In Hausgeld: Anspruchsgrundlagen für die Finanzierung der GdWE, Herr Lang warns that monitoring limitation periods is the property administrator's job. See the Legal and Industry Analysis guides.

Building, and buying far from home

Drømmevillaen is Morten Dalum's Danish show about building a new house. In Ep179 Materialerne i et klimavenligt hus, engineer Simon Bullinger explains cutting concrete in a floor slab and reaching a low-energy target without solar panels, whose use he calls a way to "købe aflad," buy indulgence. The Sustainability guide suits it.

In EP-287 Foreign Buyers, Market Shifts and 2026 Predictions: Inside Guanacaste Real Estate with Andres Murrilo, a guest on Costa Rica Investments, Real Estate & Relocation says buyers' biggest misconception, in his experience, is expecting 12% or 15%-plus returns from simply buying and renting out a home. Elsewhere the host mentions listeners investing in his own villa project, so weigh his enthusiasm. Conquering Vail moves between Spanish and English. In Cómo invertir en bienes raíces en EE.UU. sin errores fiscales — con Marco Rojas, the Miami lawyer explains that estate tax falls due nine months after a death.

Glossary

Terms worth knowing before you listen

Real-estate-via-macro framing

Sub-genre that treats real estate as one asset class in a broader hard-asset / monetary-policy conversation rather than as a standalone investment thesis. *American Monetary Association* is the slate's example.
