The rundown
Picking your next Physical Therapy & Rehab podcast
The best physical therapy podcasts sound like the talk after the last patient leaves. Clinicians test a decision against a paper, a case, or a colleague who would have done it differently. Most are made for therapists with a commute and a caseload, and a few let patients and families listen in. The strongest say plainly where the evidence runs out.
The arguments around these shows are partly clinical: should exercise be the default treatment, or one option among several? They are also partly about money. In an r/physicaltherapy thread indexed to April 2026, one poster argued that therapists must demonstrate their value to improve pay, while a respondent pointed instead to single-payer financing. In a thread indexed to February 2026, another poster asked for inpatient and acute-care shows, having found mostly orthopedic and sports ones. This page sorts the field by what each show does with your time.
Research, slowed down for the clinic
JOSPT Insights works like a journal club with the author at the table. In Ep 263: Psychologically-informed care for tendinopathy, with Jack Mest, the conversation warns against lifting low back pain frameworks wholesale. It arrives at a plain line: "We need to treat the person behind the tendinopathy."
Ep 258: CFT is a mindset, not a treatment modality (part 1), with Drs Ruth Chang & JP Caneiro starts from the host's account of a JOSPT paper in which cognitive functional therapy topped 27 interventions for reducing disability in chronic non-specific low back pain. It then spends its time on something harder to rank: beliefs about "safe" posture that surface only when a patient tries moving differently.
APTA Podcasts runs an author interview with more attention to methods. PTJ Author Interview: Development and Validation of the PT-PENCIL traces a tool that grew from acute-care therapists having more patients than they could treat. It lingers on calibration and subgroup checks, which will reward listeners at ease with prediction modelling. Physio Network adds case walk-throughs. [Case Studies] Managing a complex male pelvic pain case with Bill Taylor moves from history to differential diagnosis, which suits learners who think in patients rather than papers.
One ligament, three shows
Sports rehab is the most crowded corner, and its overlaps are instructive. Physio Network's [Physio Discussed] Throwing injuries: load management, performance and risk with. Professor Tim Gabbett and Dr Mike Reinold discusses a guest's account of an ultrasound study showing the UCL thicker and looser across a season, then tighter over winter. The episode suggests it may be the most misunderstood and misapplied article in the area. The Ask Mike Reinold Show discusses the same study in How Much Time Off Should You Take From Throwing After the Baseball Season - #AMR377, where a panellist reports coaches reading it as proof that the ligament shrinks without throwing. Hearing one paper misread in two places teaches more about evidence than either episode alone.
The Ask Mike Reinold Show also earns trust through candour. Asked about hamstring work after PCL and meniscus surgery in Hamstring Exercises after PCL and Meniscus Surgery - #AMR379, the answer begins by admitting that a full reply would take more research. The Sports Physical Therapy Podcast, hosted by Mike Reinold, contrasts how ligaments and muscles heal in Baseball Pitching Biomechanics with Glenn Fleisig - Episode 36. Untold Physio Stories is looser. In Advocating for the Young Athlete: When Coach's Pressure Meets Clinical Reality, a host describes a young player whose hamstring strength measured almost half the other side's, and a coach who still wanted him playing.
Beyond the orthopedic clinic
That inpatient complaint has partial answers. The Academy of Neurologic Physical Therapy Podcast goes deep on seating for people with ALS and on spinal cord injury. In Spinal Cord Injury SIG: Episode 22: Interview with Dr. Chad Swank and Dr. Dannae Arnold, the trial under discussion aimed for 90 minutes of gait training. The exoskeleton group averaged 35 and usual care 30, an honest picture of a protocol meeting a ward.
MMOA Podcast - Physical Therapy | Fitness | Geriatrics serves clinicians working with older adults. Inside an Innovative Fall Preparedness Program describes an obstacle course run with the lights off. Empowering Osteoporosis Management Through Exercise with Dr. Lora Giangregorio features a guest citing a supervised eight-month trial in which the exercise group gained 3% lumbar spine bone density, noting caveats about interpreting those data, and calling a 5% goal unrealistic.
Goal Getter - The AAP Physiotherapy Podcast is the plainest invitation to patients and families. Beyond the Bump What You Need to Know About Concussions | Episode 9 takes apart the idea that concussion means losing consciousness, citing roughly 7 to 8% of cases.
For hospital medicine, try the Emergency & Critical Care page. For how clinicians are trained, try the Medical Education & Training page; Mechanical Care Forum follows that thread through a season of MDT diploma candidates.
The business of practice
PT Pintcast - Physical Therapy, The P.T. Entrepreneur Podcast, Physical Therapy Private Practice: Secrets of the Top 10% and The Sports Physical Therapy Academy Podcast talk to owners and would-be owners. Their useful moments are numerical. In The 7 KPIs Every Physical Therapy Practice Owner Needs to Run a Smarter Clinic, one speaker describes an owner spending $76,000 a year on marketing because of a benchmark, a benchmark that came from people selling marketing. Several of these shows also promote what they discuss, from challenges and courses to practice assessments, and that relationship belongs beside the advice. For the wider field, the Medicine guide and the Health & Fitness category guide map what surrounds this corner.
