A field guide

Finding the right MOAB show for you

Moab’s name count suggests more podcast coverage, and less strangeness, than it delivers. The place itself appears most clearly through landscape and science. Religious podcasts tend to encounter it only while moving through larger biblical narratives, while the only episode titles that actually say “MOAB” concern gaming and information security.

The landscape is the strongest route in

For sustained place-first listening, Science Moab is the clear choice. Its episodes approach the area through specific natural features rather than travel-guide generalities. Life in the Hanging Gardens offers the most inviting entry point, while A Modern Wonder from Ancient Dunes: The Iconic Navajo Sandstone, Part 2 narrows the focus to geology. Drylands: The Dark Horse of Carbon Cycling and The Miracle of Lichen move toward ecological subjects that reward curious listeners willing to stay with the details.

This is the closest the coverage comes to a coherent Moab series. The place emerges through the things being examined there, one feature at a time.

In Bible teaching, Moab is usually part of a larger story

The religious coverage is substantial in number but mostly indirect. Unbelief approaches the Book of Ruth through progressive religious study and deconstruction, translating ancient material into contemporary questions. Its three Ruth episodes signal the range: Ruth: an Anti-patriarch Bible Book about Inclusion and Political Protest, Ruth: The Holiness of Social Welfare and Hard Work, and Ruth: The Relationship We Are All Looking For. Moab belongs to that discussion, but it is not presented as the standalone subject.

Antioch New Orleans Teachings offers a more conventional sermon sequence in March 1st, 2026: Book of Ruth | Blake Satterlee, March 8th, 2026 - Book of Ruth | Jillian Armstrong, and March 15th, 2026 - Book of Ruth | Dominique Houston. The three-speaker progression makes this a useful alternative for listeners who prefer church teaching to conversational interpretation.

Other appearances are briefer. Lyons Landmark Baptist Church reaches the same biblical territory through Faith Of Ruth, with an earnest, explanatory preaching style. LCC: The Journey encounters Moab within verse-led teaching in Obadiah 1. The University of Yahweh is slower and more ceremonial, reading and teaching scripture in The Torah, The Law (Week 51) Solar Time and The Torah, The Law (Week 52) Solar Time. These are routes through broader texts, not dedicated studies of the place.

Two prominent false friends

The most explicit MOAB titles lead elsewhere. Hobby Homies Podcast uses the name in a tabletop-gaming context with [S7E40] MOAB and the legends at Sutherland Shire Gamers. Expect fast panel banter, hobby detail, tangents, and affectionate mockery.

Pwned: The Information Security Podcast also uses the term for another subject in Episode 196 - The Recent MOAB Event -- Mother or Just Another?. That episode was published on February 14, 2024. It may be relevant to a search for the acronym, but its title does not indicate coverage of the place.

Where to start

Begin with Science Moab and Life in the Hanging Gardens for the most direct sense of place. Follow it with A Modern Wonder from Ancient Dunes: The Iconic Navajo Sandstone, Part 2 for a tighter scientific focus. For the religious thread, try Unbelief’s Ruth: an Anti-patriarch Bible Book about Inclusion and Political Protest; choose Antioch New Orleans Teachings’ three-part Book of Ruth sequence if you prefer sermon-style listening.
