How FIA podcasts differ, and which to try
FIA-focused podcast listening is thinner than the volume of Formula 1 conversation might suggest. Dedicated episodes are rare. More often, the organisation appears inside arguments about rules, safety, enforcement or the consequences of a race-weekend decision. That makes the choice of show important: some stay with governance, while others mention it briefly before moving back to teams and drivers.
The two direct routes
The Parc Fermé F1 Podcast offers the clearest governance-led starting point with Tim Mayer for FIA President | Podcast Ep 946. Its brisk panel format is loose, informed and wry, turning organisational questions into the kind of conversation knowledgeable fans might have after the microphones were already running. Expect jokes and digressions, but also attention to structure, incentives and the people seeking influence.
WTF1 Podcast frames the subject more combatively in The FIA vs Team Radio And Williams Get A Payday. The title promises a concrete dispute rather than an institutional overview, which suits the show’s quick duo dynamic. One host establishes the situation, the other tests or reframes it, and the discussion moves toward a verdict without becoming overly technical.
Rules, safety and the grey areas
Beyond those episodes, coverage is mostly indirect. On the questions that bring FIA decisions into view, The Race F1 Podcast is the strongest listening option. When does clever thinking become cheating? - The Undercut with Damon Hill and Mark Hughes examines the boundary between ingenuity and rule-breaking, while Bahrain Testing Day 3: Does F1 have a safety problem with new rules? places regulation beside safety. The show’s measured panel style leaves room for qualifications and disagreement, making it better suited to listeners who want the reasoning stretched out rather than reduced to a hot take.
Motor Sport F1 Show with Mark Hughes approaches similar territory through technical consequences. F1's 2026 relaunch: rule changes & engine upgrades unlocked, Why new F1 rules have punished Max Verstappen and Why F1's found its happy place with the 2026 rules all begin with regulation and follow it into performance. FIA discussion here is part of a larger engineering conversation, delivered carefully and with little interest in manufactured drama.
The Autosport F1 Podcast supplies an archive-minded alternative. Autosport Retro - From The Archives - Spygate 2007 and The Biggest Fine in F1 History! opens a route into enforcement through a historical controversy. Its style is conversational but analytical, using comparison and remembered context to work through why a decision mattered.
Where the coverage runs out
Many F1 shows mention the FIA during ordinary race discussion without making it the real subject. A review such as Beyond The Paddock’s Episode 63 - The Chinese GP or The Autosport F1 Podcast’s Autosport F1 - 2026 Australian Grand Prix Review may contain a relevant exchange, but neither title promises sustained treatment. Choose these for the race first, with any FIA discussion as a secondary thread.
Where to start
Begin with The Parc Fermé F1 Podcast for governance and personality. Pick WTF1 Podcast for a faster dispute-led episode. For deeper consideration of rules and safety, move to The Race F1 Podcast; for the technical effects of regulation, try Motor Sport F1 Show with Mark Hughes.
