Some great Delhi podcasts to get to know
Podcast listening about Delhi is more scattered than the number of passing mentions might suggest. The strongest city-focused episodes choose remarkably specific routes: courtroom life in The 39A Podcast’s Terror Trials: Life and Law in Delhi’s Courts, local landscape in Live History India Podcast’s EP. 15: Tales of Delhi and its Ridge, and urban nature in Bird Podcast with Shoba Narayan’s Episode 68: Delhi birds with Sudhir Vyas. Together they form a useful, varied introduction. They do not amount to comprehensive city coverage.
“Delhi” also needs filtering in a podcast queue. Charlie Cooke Cricket Podcast uses it in the IPL review MI steal a win against Delhi and SRH go Nuclear! (IPL weekend Review), while Netflix vs Cinema reaches it through the screen title in 300. Eternity VS Delhi Crime; Kill Bill The Whole Bloody Affair VS All The Empty Rooms. Those are legitimate matches, but neither is primarily a guide to the city.
Begin in the courtroom
The 39A Podcast offers the clearest route into Delhi as a place where institutions are experienced, tested and argued over. Terror Trials: Life and Law in Delhi’s Courts puts both the legal subject and its setting plainly in view. Even the wording matters: “life and law” promises something broader than a case summary, while “Delhi’s Courts” keeps the episode geographically anchored.
The surrounding catalogue shows the kind of legal conversation the show sustains. The Supreme Court’s PMLA Judgement: Insights for Defence Lawyers, Access to safe abortion in India: A fraught reality and Use of Facial Recognition Technology in the Criminal Justice System range across doctrine, rights and criminal-justice technology. Those episodes do not identify themselves as Delhi coverage, so they should not be treated as such. They do, however, make the show the natural first stop for listeners drawn to the legal angle rather than a general city portrait.
Follow the ridge, then the birds
Live History India Podcast takes the most explicitly place-led approach. EP. 15: Tales of Delhi and its Ridge signals a story shaped around Delhi and a particular feature of its landscape. It is the better choice when the court-focused route feels too institutional and the listener wants the city itself to provide the organizing thread.
Bird Podcast with Shoba Narayan narrows the lens further. Episode 68: Delhi birds with Sudhir Vyas offers a direct nature-focused entry, with the city defined through its bird life and a conversation with Sudhir Vyas. There is no need to arrive with an interest in politics or law. For a subject whose podcast appearances often come through national news, that change of scale is welcome.
These two episodes also complement each other neatly. One announces “tales” and the Ridge; the other birds and a named conversation partner. Neither claims to explain all of Delhi. Each gives the listener a concrete way into place.
When Delhi means cricket or television
Charlie Cooke Cricket Podcast is a brisk, conversational show for listeners already comfortable with cricket language and the movement of a match review. In MI steal a win against Delhi and SRH go Nuclear! (IPL weekend Review), Delhi appears inside an IPL result rather than as the episode’s civic subject. Choose it for informed, thinking-aloud cricket discussion, not for urban reporting.
Netflix vs Cinema creates a different kind of overlap. Its loose film-club panel compares several works in 300. Eternity VS Delhi Crime; Kill Bill The Whole Bloody Affair VS All The Empty Rooms. “Delhi Crime” is one item in a crowded screen-review episode, so the city reaches the conversation through a title and its treatment on screen. The panel’s warm, digressive style may make that appealing, but this is firmly television and film criticism.
Both episodes are useful reminders that a title match can lead somewhere adjacent. Here, one leads to franchise cricket and the other to a crime series.
The limits of the news route
Current-affairs shows mention Delhi more often than their episode pages make discoverable. Today in India - Morning News Brief uses calendar titles such as February 26th, 2026 (Thursday), March 12th, 2026 (Thursday) and March 27th, 2026 (Friday). Its brisk, scripted exchanges are built for explaining the day’s developments, but those labels offer no clue about which edition gives Delhi sustained attention. It is better for regular news listening than for choosing one city-focused episode.
NL Hafta poses a similar navigation problem. Titles including Chota Hafta 584, Chota Hafta 582 and Chota Hafta 579 do not reveal whether Delhi is central, peripheral or merely mentioned. The show’s crowded editorial-room style suits listeners who enjoy argument, digression and strong positions, yet there is no dependable Delhi on-ramp in those episode names.
That is the honest shape of the coverage: a few sharply defined episodes, surrounded by current-affairs appearances that are difficult to identify and may be brief.
Where to start
Start with The 39A Podcast’s Terror Trials: Life and Law in Delhi’s Courts for the strongest institutional treatment. Choose Live History India Podcast’s EP. 15: Tales of Delhi and its Ridge for a place-led historical route, or Bird Podcast with Shoba Narayan’s Episode 68: Delhi birds with Sudhir Vyas for the most distinctive change of perspective. Cricket listeners can take the side road through Charlie Cooke Cricket Podcast’s MI steal a win against Delhi and SRH go Nuclear! (IPL weekend Review), knowing that its Delhi is the IPL contest.
