The REF 1400 Podcast

The REF 1400 Podcast is the podcast home for a cluster of Oklahoma sports-radio shows centered on Norman, OU, and the wider state sports calendar. It is not polished national debate. It is local, busy, conversational, and built around the daily texture of being close to the teams. One hour might linger on Rory at the Masters, Terrell Hatton’s Augusta form, and whether LIV has lost juice. The next might shift to OU’s spring game, free parking on Campus Corner, young running backs, offensive line depth, and the simple demand to run the ball. Football drives much of the feed. The hosts talk through Owen Heineke’s eligibility news, NCAA power, court-room weirdness, defensive depth, transfer questions, and what can actually be learned in April. The show is also comfortable broadening out. Thunder coaching, Mark Gagnall’s rotations, OU softball, baseball guests, golf odds, and live-event atmosphere all find room. The pace is brisk. Segments often start with audio, a sponsor, a listener prompt, or an inside joke, then turn into real analysis once the table is set. That looseness is the point. The feed captures the sound of a station living inside its market, where the Noun Hotel, Riverwind Casino, Campus Corner, Buffalo Wild Wings studios, and the Ref Army are part of the sports conversation rather than scenery. Interviews are folded into the flow, with names such as Toby, DJ Gasso, Skip Johnson, and Brian Bosworth appearing alongside regular on-air voices. There are plenty of ads. Some clips are almost all reads and station promotion. The payoff is proximity: a fan gets the arguments, jokes, mood swings, and small local details that national shows miss.
