The Halfhill Report

The Halfhill Report is a fictional radio broadcast that treats World of Warcraft's sprawling fantasy world as a connected network of villages, inns, festivals, sporting events, fashion shows, and local grievances. Its home base is Half Hill, with Tosh Mufuni speaking from the upstairs room at the Lazy Turnip Inn. The tone is wonderfully official. Letters are read with ceremony, even when they arrive from the Orgrimmar Chamber of Commerce in a state of outrage. Public apologies get delivered with almost civic seriousness. Calendar notices turn Love is in the Air, Noble Garden, Volunteer Guard Day, Children's Week, Trial of Style, and the Kalimdor Cup into the stuff of community radio. The comedy rarely needs to shout. It comes from the mismatch between calm broadcast procedure and Azeroth's deeply odd daily life. A race report can drift from course position to robe trim, proto-drake scales, binocular complaints, and a misplaced drink order. A fashion segment can make Trial of Style sound like both high culture and competitive sport. Travel pieces with Velmik bring a warmer, storybook quality, moving through the Dragon Isles, the Onaran Plains, Time Rifts, bakar lists, family visits, and practical confusion. The show also has a fondness for fictional sponsorships and closing promos, which make the world feel full of other programs, inns, breweries, and side adventures. That density is part of the charm. Azeroth is not presented as a game board here, but as a place with correspondents, caretakers, memorials, trading posts, soup events, and people who keep sending letters. The writing understands Warcraft references, but it often lands through rhythm rather than lore explanation. Tosh's politeness is a comic engine. Velmik's travel reports add heart. Eliandor's attention to clothing gives the show a crisp little streak of vanity and taste. Professor Talib brings academic color around events and exploration. Eamon's dispatches widen the map with a more rugged field-report feel. Fans who know the zones and holidays will catch the extra layers, while listeners who enjoy faux-broadcast comedy can still follow the premise. The Halfhill Report is small, specific, and carefully mannered in the best way: a fantasy fan-fiction show built like a local station that somehow covers all of Azeroth.
