Release Yourself

Release Yourself is built for the moment just before the lights fully take over. Roger Sanchez opens with a few words, places the listener in a city or club, and moves quickly into house music. The show’s recent run has the feel of a touring map. Miami Music Week, Ontario, Toronto, Koh Samui, San Diego, Naples, Dubai, and Budapest all become part of the same dance-floor itinerary. Each episode starts with a setting rather than a long monologue. A room matters here. So does the crowd. Comfort Zone is remembered as a favorite Toronto after-hours spot. Common Ground in Naples gets framed through its elevated booth, packed floor, and old-school New York City feeling. The penthouse in Dubai brings skyline intimacy, a post-New Year’s lift, and a taste for tribal and Arabic textures in the mix. Koh Samui adds a sunset beach-club mood. Budapest brings a hot sunny day at an event in a castle. The show keeps its structure simple because the music carries the real argument. Sanchez gives just enough detail to make each recording feel lived-in, then returns to the beats. Some episodes include guest mixes, including appearances from Italian producer Drax and UK producer Lex Luca. Others mention artists and label activity, such as Sam Wee and Loreano connected to a track on under the radar. The tone is direct, upbeat, and club-seasoned. It suits listeners who want house music with a sense of place, not studio chatter stretched around a playlist. Release Yourself stands out by preserving the atmosphere of live rooms while still behaving like a weekly radio show.
