About Powerline Podcast
Powerline Podcast is a field-first show about the people who build, maintain, lead, and live around the power line industry. It does not treat line work as an abstract industry. It treats it as a trade with weather in it, family sacrifice behind it, and a crew standing close enough that trust is not optional. The show’s strongest episodes are built from stories. A solo National Lineman Appreciation Day episode turns attention toward the late-night callouts, missed birthdays, packed gear bags, storm travel, funerals, and pride that most customers never see. It is direct and sentimental without losing the worksite frame. Interview episodes widen that frame. Brandon Crawford’s story centers on a four-wheeler accident, amputation, recovery, and the path into becoming a lineman. Hudson Lucas’s conversation follows a post-high-school route through small-town life, utility arborist work, bucket trucks, chainsaws, line clearing, fire calls, and the value of taking a job near the career being chased. A leadership panel with Donnie Farmer and others turns rodeo, military service, and trades experience into lessons about accountability, breath control, pressure, and refusing excuses. The rodeo conversation with JJ Harrison reaches similar territory from outside the line trade, using hospitality, humor, and making people feel included as a way to talk about crew culture. Episodes with Tyrel Crystal and Mackenzie Rodgers bring the business and utility side closer to the ground, covering civil work, underground utilities, right-of-ways, substations, leadership, trust, communication, and follow-through. Kassidy Warren’s episode pushes into money, burnout, toxic work, self-improvement, and real estate as an exit or expansion path for people from the power industry. Across these turns, the show keeps circling the same questions: how people get into hard work, how they stay steady under pressure, how they lead without hiding behind title, and what the trade asks from the people around it. The tone is warm, loose, and interview-driven. It is comfortable with shop-talk digressions because those digressions usually end up pointing back to character, safety, or purpose. Powerline Podcast stands apart by sounding less like coverage of the energy sector and more like a long conversation after the job, when the useful stories finally come out.
Made for: Built for linemen, apprentices, utility workers, trade families, and listeners drawn to blue-collar careers with real pressure behind them. It also suits people considering line work or adjacent paths into the power industry.
What sets it apart: The show’s edge is its closeness to the field: storms, crews, injuries, apprenticeships, substations, arborist work, and leadership are discussed by people who have lived near the work. It favors lived examples over polished industry talk.
In their own words
This podcast is for anyone in the power line industry. Those of you that love to build and maintain power lines at work and after work. This is a collection of stories from line workers around the world. This is a community for us to share where we’ve been, who we’ve worked with, projects we’ve been apart of and hopefully pass on some of those key lessons that we could all learn from. This podcast will be a mix of line workers and their stories as well as other professionals sharing about how to keep a healthy mind, body and spirit.

It makes career mobility and practical leadership concrete through conversations rooted in the electrical utility trade.
Powerline Podcast treats the electrical utility trade as a working world shaped by career decisions and everyday leadership. Ryan Lucas keeps his questions close to practice, asking how young workers enter the field and how crews build trust under pressure.
