About Neural Implant podcast - the people behind Brain-Machine Interface revolutions

Neural Implant Podcast covers brain implants from the inside of the field rather than from the outside looking in. Its center of gravity is neuroprosthetics, brain-machine interfaces, neuromodulation, and active implantable medical devices. The format is conversational, but the subject matter stays concrete. Ladin Juracek introduces guests with a mix of technical framing and informal curiosity, then follows the engineering or clinical thread until the constraints become visible. One episode may focus on wireless power for smaller, smarter, longer-lasting implants. Another may move through gamma knife, trigeminal neuralgia, DBS electrodes, pain treatment, and how neurosurgeons set expectations with patients. The show is at its best when a guest explains how a device actually works. Sensors in an insole become stimulation through electrodes in the tibial portion of the sciatic nerve. Flexible implant substrates become a discussion of polyimide, liquid crystal polymer, delamination, traces, and electrode layers. High-channel interfaces become a question of power, size, packaging, medical constraints, and what thousands of simultaneous channels might enable. There is business context too. Episodes touch startup strategy, medical-device translation, active implantable device workshops, European patent law, and the importance of protecting the parts of a system that connect directly to an unmet clinical need. The result is not a general science chat. It is a working conversation for people who care how neurotechnology moves from lab bench to operating room, clinic, company, and patient. The pacing is patient but not padded. Technical terms are allowed, then explained through examples. Guests include founders, neurosurgeons, researchers, engineers, and legal specialists connected to implantable devices. The show repeatedly returns to function: restoring sensation, improving movement, treating pain, enabling cognition research, and making implants safer or more practical. It also keeps the field personal. Behind each device are tradeoffs about surgery, calibration, power transfer, regulation, patient benefit, and clinical adoption. Neural Implant Podcast is most rewarding for listeners who want neurotech with the bolts still visible.

Made for: For neurotechnology founders, engineers, clinicians, researchers, students, and curious listeners who want brain-implant conversations that stay understandable without sanding off the technical detail.

What sets it apart: The show connects device engineering, surgery, materials, power delivery, clinical needs, and medtech strategy in one place. Its interviews make the field feel smaller and more legible by staying close to how implants are actually built, tested, protected, and used.

In their own words

This podcast's purpose is to bring together the field of neuroprosthetics / brain machine interfaces / brain implants in an understandable conversation about the current topics and breakthroughs. We hope to complement scientific papers on new neural research in an easy, digestable way. Innovators and professionals can share thoughts or ideas to facilitate 'idea sex' to make the field of brain implants a smaller and more personal space.

As heard by us

Based on 6 episodes we listened to · September 2026

Ladin Juracek connects implant engineering to patents, product strategy and the difficult path from laboratory technology to clinical use.

Ladin Juracek keeps the interview table close to the work of turning implant research into usable products. Conversations move between clinical problems, device design and company strategy, with Juracek repeatedly asking what a technology can do, where its limits sit and how it…
