Naked Poetry

Naked Poetry is a spoken-word poetry feed with the feeling of late-night pages read before they cool down. Its episodes are often short. They do not build arguments so much as emotional weather. A poem may begin with a candle, a bell, a violin, or a color, then turn those objects into pressure points for longing and self-recognition. The writing favors repetition, direct address, and dense sensory language. It is intimate, sometimes bruised, and often more interested in sensation than narrative closure. The violin piece is a good map for the show’s style: an instrument becomes a companion, a wound, a voice, and a record of devotion. Other pieces lean more abstract, using phrases about timing, readiness, translation, and being in between. The result is poetry that asks to be heard rather than solved. The feed also preserves a social layer from an older audio-community world. In “Gum Wrappers,” listeners send encouragement, mention station favorites, respond to personality-type talk, and reflect on poetry as a shared gift. That gives the show a looser, more handmade frame than a polished literary program. It feels like a room where people leave voice notes at the door. The poems themselves can be tender, dramatic, playful, or severe. “Double Digits” moves into darker body imagery and spiritual provocation, while other excerpts stay soft, airy, and devotional. Naked Poetry suits listeners who like their spoken word unvarnished and close to the nerve. It is not a lecture series about poetry. It is more like overhearing a poet test what language can carry when ordinary speech is too slow.
