LPRC’s Crime Science is a field-facing podcast about crime science as it is used by retail loss prevention and asset protection teams. It is practical first. The show’s center of gravity is not theory in isolation, but the point where criminology, store operations, technology, leadership, and collaboration have to produce results. Many episodes are interview-driven conversations with researchers and industry participants, often recorded around LPRC’s IMPACT conference. That setting matters. The show repeatedly returns to the idea that the conference is only one visible moment in a larger year-round body of research, working groups, planning, and member collaboration. Conversations tend to begin with a direct operational question. From there, guests talk through the details: how asset protection stays aligned with operations, how leaders earn stakeholder buy-in, how a case management system can become useful beyond one department, and how future leaders are prepared before a role opens. The language is professional and occasionally rough around the edges, more like a recorded working session than a tightly edited magazine show. That looseness gives the episodes their value. Speakers have room to repeat an idea, correct the frame, and connect a practice to a broader business reason. The show is also unusually candid about the organizational side of prevention. It asks how expertise becomes persuasive, why relationship credibility matters, and how departments prove value without sacrificing customer or worker experience. Research stays close to application. Working groups, violent crime, organized retail crime, risk modeling, certifications, action teams, and leadership readiness appear as parts of the same ecosystem rather than separate topics. The result is niche, but clearly useful. LPRC is best for listeners who already care about retail safety, shrink, fraud, violence prevention, and cross-functional problem solving. It rewards patience with concrete lessons from people trying to make prevention work inside real organizations.
Made for: LPRC suits asset protection, loss prevention, retail operations, safety, and criminology professionals who want practice-level conversations rather than broad crime commentary. It also fits listeners interested in how research moves into stores, conferences, leadership programs, and working groups.
What sets it apart: The show stands apart by treating retail crime prevention as a collaborative operating problem. Its strongest material comes from practitioners explaining how evidence, relationships, business cases, and store realities shape what actually gets adopted.
