La Cápsula Muda

La Cápsula Muda is a Spanish-language horror review show with the energy of a long-running private ritual that became public. Its center is simple: watch a pile of horror movies, talk about them immediately, and decide what survived the viewing. The execution is much looser and funnier than that sounds. Jen and Brenda move fast, sometimes recapping a premise, sometimes cutting straight to whether a scare worked, a performance collapsed, or a movie took thirty minutes too long to end. The show has a strong appetite for independent horror, lesser-known releases, strange titles, seasonal picks, and films that might only be interesting because they failed in memorable ways. It is not allergic to praise. When something like atmosphere, mystery, or a final turn lands, the conversation gives it room. But the show is just as alive when a bad casting choice, a ridiculous plot point, or an overextended taxi sequence needs to be dragged into the light. Solo episodes lean into compact reviews, grouping several titles into quick recommendations, warnings, and shrugs. Duo episodes have a more elastic shape, with Brenda pushing the rhythm into interruptions, clarifications, jokes, and shared disbelief. Specials add another layer of friendly disorder, including guests such as Alejandro González and references to absent regulars like Kazz. The criticism is practical rather than pristine. It asks whether the movie is slow, scary, ugly, funny, salvageable, or only useful as evidence that horror fans will watch almost anything. The show also carries a casual archive quality, with numbered episodes, holiday installments, and repeated references to past specials. It feels made by people who have built a habit around suffering through genre cinema and occasionally finding a real surprise inside it. The best fit is a listener who wants horror talk that stays close to the couch: quick, opinionated, specific, and willing to laugh while counting the knives.
