Gambiarra Board Games

Gambiarra Board Games is a tabletop podcast about the hobby as it is actually lived. It cares about the shelf as much as the table. Episodes move through collection habits, game definitions, chaotic play sessions, card-game traditions, and the side interests that gather around a group of committed players. The tone is casual but specific. A listener round can become a detailed tour of how a large collection is organized by designer, mechanic, school, expansion, label, and deep shelf space. Criteria for keeping a game are treated as real decisions, not trivia. Solo mode matters. So does whether a wife or regular play partner will enjoy it. The show also likes bigger conceptual arguments, including the slippery question of what makes something a board game. In those moments, it compares analog play, digital automation, Mario Party, Pokémon TCG, card games, and the cultural weight of the word “board.” The result is more than buying advice. It is a record of how players name, sort, defend, and revise the boundaries of a hobby. List episodes add a louder rhythm, especially when Gustavo Lopes and Carolina Guzmão rank games that bring chaos to the table. Chaos is not treated as automatically good. The show distinguishes lively disorder from bad disorder, especially in card games with many effects. Gambiarra Qualquer Coisa widens the frame with films, cafeterias, albums, mobile games, and progressive rock, keeping the same argumentative, taste-driven mode. The off-topic turns do not feel detached from the main show. They reinforce the sense of a tabletop community with broad, talkative enthusiasms. Gambiarra Board Games works best for listeners who enjoy Portuguese-language hobby conversation with practical detail, strong preferences, and a willingness to debate the vocabulary of play itself.
