About Fine Movies. Fine Spirits.

Fine Movies. Fine Spirits. is a fast, unruly film conversation show where the recap is only the starting line. The panel knows the movies well enough to move quickly. A plot point opens into casting history, a remembered first viewing, an awards tangent, a proof point, or a joke that knocks the whole discussion sideways. Beverly Hills Cop becomes a case study in Eddie Murphy's timing, Rosewood and Taggart's value, Stallone's earlier involvement, and the strange comfort of an uncomplicated 80s cop movie. Léon: The Professional turns on version differences, unused sequel ideas, Luke Besson, Natalie Portman, and the discomfort built into the movie's premise. Young Frankenstein lets the group revel in Mel Brooks, Gene Wilder, Marty Feldman, classic bits, Oscar nominations, and the odd pleasure of quoting a joke until it falls apart. Uncut Gems gets handled like a panic attack with trivia attached. Kevin Garnett, Howard's opal, bad bets, family damage, and auction chaos all become fuel. Stand By Me brings out the show's warmer side, especially when the conversation circles Rob Reiner, young actors, childhood friendship, and the movie's crisp shape. The softness never lasts uninterrupted. That is part of the design. Sincerity keeps getting undercut by a crude aside, a correction, or somebody dragging the room back into a bit. The show is not tidy criticism. It is memory, irritation, trivia, taste, and group rhythm. The hosts are not trying to sound detached from the movies. They sound invested, amused, occasionally exasperated, and very ready to argue over why a simple scene works. War films, comedies, crime thrillers, modern stress movies, and international dramas all fit because the real subject is how movies live in a room full of opinionated fans. Fine Movies. Fine Spirits. is best when the conversation feels like it might derail, then somehow lands on a smart point anyway.

Made for: For film fans who enjoy opinionated group chemistry, deep recall, awards trivia, actor talk, and comedy that can turn sharp. It especially suits listeners who prefer animated table conversation over polished critical essays.

What sets it apart: The show pairs real movie knowledge with the loose rhythm of friends interrupting, correcting, and baiting each other. It can move from Rob Reiner praise or Eddie Murphy chemistry to a rough joke without losing the thread.

In their own words

A podcast by movie fans who have all known each other since they were kids growing up in the same neighborhood. Over 40 years! And now they get together to talk about some of their favorite (and some of the greatest) movies of all time. So sit back, enjoy a drink with them, and listen as they talk about some fine, fine movies...
