About FBB - For Bibel og Bekjennelse

FBB - For Bibel og Bekjennelse is not shaped as a personality-led chat show. It functions as a large Norwegian archive of Bible hours, talks, and lectures where theological exposition is allowed to stay dense, extended, and serious. The format is usually simple: a speaker names the theme, opens the relevant texts or confessional material, and then proceeds by definition, distinction, and consequence. That restraint gives the show its character. Recent episodes move through the Augsburg Confession, the doctrine of righteousness, the power of the keys, Nicaea, premodern Bible reading, suffering, hope, and the preservation of faith under trial. The show is attentive to confessional categories. It asks what righteousness is, why Luther's struggle over conscience matters, how confession and absolution are understood, and why the distinction between the ground of righteousness and the fruits of faith must be guarded carefully. Church history is not decorative here. Arius, Nicaea, the Reformation, Bånhøffer, and older theological traditions appear because the speakers treat historical doctrine as a live question for worship, conscience, and the church's present speech. The tone is grave but not cold. At points it becomes warmly pastoral, particularly when suffering, temptation, or the tested life of faith comes into view. At other points it becomes more directly corrective, pressing against modern assumptions about reason and the human tendency to place the self at the center of interpretation. The show also has room for scholarly retrospect, including reflections on decades of theological study and the difficult inheritance of philosophical and apophatic traditions. It expects concentration. Long sentences, scriptural chains, and careful contrasts are part of its method. The reward is a rare kind of continuity: biblical text, confession, church history, and pastoral care are treated as one argument rather than separate departments. FBB is best understood as a serious confessional lecture series in podcast form, built for listeners who want theology to be demonstrated, not merely discussed.

Made for: For listeners who want serious teaching, biblical exposition, and church history in a formal lecture register. It is best suited to those comfortable with long theological arguments and Norwegian-language Christian discourse.

What sets it apart: Its strength is the sustained connection between scripture, confession, Reformation history, pastoral care, and doctrine. The show rarely simplifies its material into slogans; it lets the full doctrinal chain remain visible.

Finn-Widar Knutzen - Nikea 325, da og nå.

    Hidden gem

Finn-Widar Knutzen marks the 1,700th anniversary of the Council of Nicaea (325 AD) by tracing the conflict between the Alexandrian priest Arius, who taught that Jesus was a created being rather than eternally divine, and Athanasius, then a 25-year-old deacon who defended the doctrine that Christ is 'true God of true God, of one substance with the Father.' He uses a 'five A's' mnemonic, Alexandria, Apollos, Alexander, Arius, Athanasius, to walk through the city's Christian history and the personalities involved, noting church historian Eusebius's disputed attendance figures of 250 to 318 bishops.
