About Faith Adjacent
Faith Adjacent approaches Christianity with a rare combination of seriousness and comic timing. The show is rooted in biblical study, but it refuses to treat theology as a sterile classroom exercise. Erin Moon often frames the conversation as resident Bible scholar, with Jamie Golden and Evan Dodson adding the kind of banter that can turn Passover, Easter, St. Patrick, or atonement theory into a full-contact discussion. The pacing is loose, quick, and relational. The ideas are not loose. Episodes move comfortably from early church arguments to modern church spectacle, from Christian nationalism to masculinity influencers, from kids and faith to biblical characters imagined through dodgeball strategy. That range is the point. Faith is treated as something that shows up in holidays, politics, family conversations, media habits, and odd little assumptions people inherit from Sunday school. The show can be playful. It can also sit with tenderness, especially when a guest such as Reverend Rob Schenck talks about leaving Christian nationalism or when the conversation turns toward legal assisted suicide. Recurring segments give the feed a familiar shape, including Favorite or Forsaken, themed drafts, and biography-style looks at famous Christians. The hosts make space for nerdy detail without requiring listeners to already speak academic theology. They also use jokes as a way into complexity, not as an escape from it. Faith Adjacent is best for listeners who want Christian conversation that is honest about faith culture, allergic to smug certainty, and happy to pair a serious theological question with a very specific pop-culture aside.
Made for: Faith Adjacent suits Christians and theology-curious people who want informed conversation without churchy polish. It especially fits listeners who enjoy pop-culture references, candid critique, and hosts who can be funny without going shallow.
What sets it apart: The show’s edge is its mixture of resident Bible scholarship, group-chat chemistry, and cultural literacy. It treats atonement theories, Christian nationalism, Easter customs, and St. Patrick with the same curiosity it brings to jokes, drafts, and running segments.
In their own words
Conversations involving faith are often fraught with scholarly nerd alerts about ancient linguistics and inaccessible theological discussions centered around hermeneutics. But what if there was a way to use your pop culture literacy to enhance your biblical literacy? Welcome to Faith Adjacent, the podcast where we try to understand the modern dynamics of faith through a combined commitment to uncomfortable honesty, authentic weirdness, and critical thinking. Faith Adjacent is hosted by Knox McCoy and Jamie Golden of The Popcast along with Resident Bible Scholar Erin Moon.
