Every Version Ever - Film Adaptations of Classic Literature!

Every Version Ever is a conversation-driven show about how stories change when they move across books, films, classic literature, animation, and holiday specials. Its recent run shows the premise at full strength. Jonathan opens Season 7 with a Jurassic Park focus, planning episodes on all three Jurassic Park movies and both of the original two Michael Crichton novels while leaving Jurassic World aside for now. That choice gives the show room to compare blockbuster memory with source-material structure. In the novel episode, the conversation notices how much harsher and more relentless the book feels, but also how much attention it gives to park infrastructure: tunnels, back roads, controlled waterfalls, storage sheds, and the hidden systems behind the spectacle. The Lost World discussion shifts to Spielberg's sequel, character depth, hunting, and the way teen viewing habits can attach a movie to an unlikely personal ritual. The show is analytical, but it stays loose. Guests can veer from compies and T. rexes to zoo design, franchise purism, and whether a side character has more depth than his costume suggests. Seasonal episodes broaden the pattern. A Christmas Carol becomes a format for good and bad adaptation pitches, with Nikki and Mark imagining sincere casting choices and deliberately impossible versions. Dick Whittington and His Cat turns into a deeper folklore discussion with Dan from TYT. reviews and Jenna West aka Phantomwise, including detours into language, regional variation, and how old stories pick up new meanings. The Night Before Christmas in Wonderland episode tracks a 2D animated streaming release starring Gerard Butler and Emilia Clarke, treating its lack of hype as part of the story. Annual recaps and update episodes add a small-media-making layer, with Jonathan discussing recommendations, channel changes, Patreon extras, and the practical limits of keeping multiple podcasts moving. The show works best for adaptation obsessives who enjoy specificity. It is less about quick verdicts and more about comparison, memory, odd release paths, and the pleasure of asking what each version thought it was doing.
