Emporio Salgado

Emporio Salgado is a daily-feeling Spanish monologue show built from irritation, pop-culture obsession, and turning small details into oversized evidence. It rarely moves in a straight line. A discussion of Mario Casas and Sylvester Stallone can detour through cinema attendance, Uncle Paco, action-movie bloodshed, Satanic hotel imagery, and the strange social theater of watching a violent film with three other people in the room. That looseness is the format. The show works because the detours usually circle back with a sharper point than a tidy review would have delivered. Films are judged by plot, casting, audience energy, body-count excess, streaming placement, and whatever private annoyance has come into the room that day. Television gets the same treatment. When Enar Álvarez moves from La 2 to La 1 with Shakira as a guest, the show is less interested in polite congratulations than in who gets credit, what the audience actually watched for, and how entertainment sites framed the result. Franchise culture is another favorite target. James Bond, Robocop, Lara Croft, Will Smith, Angelina Jolie, Chris Rock, and James Bond Jr. all become pieces in a loud argument about masculinity, market logic, and cultural memory. Comedy is treated with particular suspicion. The Juan Dávila episode draws a hard line between memorized monologue craft and crowd-work shortcuts, using the comedian's film as proof in a wider complaint about fame, luck, and stage legitimacy. The show also has a regular appetite for bizarre news and online behavior. Wallapop users, flat-earth chatter, Telegram feedback, ratings sites, sponsor interruptions, and platform names all become part of the texture. Emporio Salgado is abrasive without being vague. Its best moments come from the collision of rant, review, anecdote, and petty observation. The show suits listeners who want Spanish-language pop criticism that feels immediate, overcaffeinated, and unafraid of ugly opinions. It is closer to a comic argument in a crowded bar than to a studio panel. That is the point.
