About EAT SLEEP WINE REPEAT: A Wine Podcast Exploring Wine Regions, Grapes & Education
Eat Sleep Wine Repeat is a wine education show with the pace of a guided tasting and the curiosity of a regional field trip. Janina Doyle frames wine as something to study, smell, taste, question, and travel through. The show is approachable, but it does not flatten the subject. It likes detail. Episodes spend real time on soils, climate, grape varieties, clones, biotypes, appellation rules, winemaking techniques, and the textures that make one bottle feel different from another. Recent conversations have looked at Orvieto DOC through Grechetto, minerality, marine sediment, white flowers, salinity, and age-worthy white wine. Australian Shiraz becomes a way to compare Barossa, Hunter Valley, old vines, volcanic soils, medium body, elegance, leather, graphite, and regional identity. Sicily arrives through Santa Tresa, organic farming, biodiversity, Tendoni trellising, ancient practices, Frappato, Nero d’Avola, and the pressure of hotter, drier summers. Italian wine is a major thread. Brunello di Montalcino, Sangiovese, Barolo, Barbaresco, Nebbiolo, Langhe varieties, Nascetta, Pelaverga, and Freisa are all treated as living subjects rather than label trivia. The show also makes room for exam-focused learning, including a Rhône Valley episode built around WSET Diploma D3 revision. Those study episodes are structured and clear. The guest-led episodes are more conversational, often moving from tasting notes into vineyard decisions and travel ideas. Guests help connect bottle style to place. The mood stays generous and enthusiastic, with enough technical vocabulary for committed learners and enough warmth for newer drinkers. It is especially good at turning overlooked grapes and regions into something memorable. Listeners come away with better tasting language, a stronger sense of terroir, and more confidence choosing the next bottle.
Made for: For curious wine drinkers, WSET students, and travel-minded learners who want clearer language for grapes, regions, and styles. It especially suits listeners who enjoy both tasting notes and the reasons behind them.
What sets it apart: The show pairs exam-ready structure with relaxed, region-by-region storytelling. It gives overlooked grapes and appellations the same attention usually reserved for famous bottles.
