Drink about something

Drink about something is a true-crime conversation show with a deliberately loose pulse. It tells dark cases, then leaves room for everything people say when the material becomes too strange, cruel, or upsetting to sit with quietly. The episodes move through Patty Hearst and the SLA, Gypsy Rose Blanchard, Natalie Wood, and related side stories pulled from current online rabbit holes. The tone is not detached. It reacts. When a case turns toward child abuse, medical control, murder, or ideological violence, the speakers register shock in the moment instead of sanding it down into neutral narration. That gives the show a raw, social feel. Research drives the episode, but conversation keeps interrupting it in a recognizably human way. A grim bank robbery detail can lead to disbelief about someone being called elderly at 42. A Natalie Wood recap can become a debate over whether someone could hear a fight on a 70-foot boat. A Gypsy Rose Blanchard discussion can slow down around puberty, coercion, and the damage of being kept dependent. Drinks are part of the atmosphere, not a tidy gimmick. So are personal updates, river days, holiday recaps, Pride Month mentions, and casual music enthusiasm. The show often feels like two people carrying a case file into an off-hours hangout and letting the tension spill out naturally. It is messy in places, but that mess is central to its identity. The pacing shifts from researched sequence to side argument to emotional aside and back again. Listeners who need concise documentary polish may find it too wandering. Listeners who like true crime with banter, visible feeling, and a strong sense of room noise will understand the appeal quickly. Its best moments come when the speakers are trying to process not just what happened, but how anyone around the case could justify, ignore, or survive it. The result is edgy, informal true crime with music talk around the edges and genuine outrage at the center.
