Criticologos

Criticologos approaches pop culture from the seat right after the screening, when opinions are still fresh and the group chat energy has not cooled. The show covers movies, streaming series, entertainment news, and related culture with a strong emphasis on reviews. Recent episodes focus on Moana 2, Wicked, Mufasa: The Lion King, Joker, Batman: Caped Crusader, Deadpool & Wolverine, Barbie, and the Puerto Rico Film Festival. The conversation usually starts with a first reaction. Then it opens out. Performances, songs, animation, visual effects, close-ups, costume work, production design, franchise baggage, and audience expectations all become fair game. The show is especially alert to how popular entertainment lands across generations. Deadpool & Wolverine becomes a conversation about people who grew up with X-Men. Wicked becomes a test of whether a musical can work for people who are not already musical fans. Disney sequels are measured against memory, emotional continuity, comedy, and the question of whether a follow-up needed to exist at all. Criticologos is not afraid of enthusiasm. It is also not afraid of disappointment. A film can be praised for visuals and still questioned for story, or admired for performance while criticized for structure and repetition. The show often notices social themes without turning every review into a thesis. Barbie brings out discussion of self-love, feminism, and patriarchy. Story Ave prompts talk about adolescence, pressure, poverty, mistakes, and resilience. Joker leads to comments on mental illness representation, musical form, and the complicated balance between the two leads. The register is conversational, Puerto Rican, and plugged into fandom spaces, with references to musicals, Marvel, DC, Disney, streaming platforms, social media, and local festival culture. It suits listeners who want criticism with personality rather than distance. The value is in the friction between immediate reaction and close attention: one voice may come from fan memory, another from a more open or less franchise-bound angle, and the episode finds its shape in that exchange. Criticologos feels useful for deciding what to watch, but its deeper pleasure is hearing mainstream entertainment argued through with humor, context, and real-time curiosity.
