About Bell 2 Bell With the Doc

Bell 2 Bell With the Doc is a school-leadership show built on analogy. Its host gathers lessons from the road, the ring and the classroom, then applies them to the chaos of running a school. The packaging is pro wrestling through and through. A ring-announcer welcome of 'ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls', a pivot to 'the main event' and a send-off urging listeners to make tomorrow their main event recur across episodes, with 'the winner and still champion' trailing after. Pro wrestling and sports come up as subjects as well, but education and educational leadership stay at the center. The through-line is what the host calls endurance leadership, and the metaphors come straight from running and racing. One story is set a few miles from the finish of a race on a hot August afternoon in Tennessee. Another recalls a missed turn that added 20 miles and wrecked the rest of that race. The lesson is blunt: know the course. Plenty of school leaders want high scores, low truancy and zero bus issues, the host argues, yet start fast with no plan. Following whoever is out in front is no substitute, because being ahead is not the same as knowing the way. The same practical logic shapes a take on assessment. A daily weigh-in shows the host's weight drifting with salt, carbonated drinks and skipped workouts, and a calibrated test works much the same way: one consistent checkpoint whose trends can drive change inside a school. Advice gets hard scrutiny. The host offers checkpoints for separating sound counsel from gut-feel talk, among them whether the person has ever actually run a school and how they perform under pressure. Retired, old-school administrators are named as the source of some of the best advice the host has received. An episode on building a tribe shares that respect for lived experience over degrees and closes with an open offer: anyone who needs someone in their corner can reach out by email. Not everything is a how-to. One episode reaches for the legend of the black dog, a menacing creature found across many cultures that preys on the inattentive, an idea the host had written about on a blog years earlier. The delivery is candid and warm, and one opening admits the recording had to be restarted a few times. Mild profanity surfaces now and then. The feed also holds a second format, From the Principal's Desk, a two-voice conversation between Dennis Wilds and Chris Sharp. In one of those episodes, Wilds brings on football coach Carl 'Bubba' White, someone he goes back several years with. The coach talks about requiring players to look him in the eye and treat one another with respect, expecting pushback from families, and fixing what he can control. The pair close that episode with a pun on their own names: 'Wilds out' and 'stay sharp out there.' For a first listen, 'Sniffing Out Bad Advice' fits anyone weighing outside input, and 'Tipping the Scales' fits someone trying to make sense of test data.

Made for: Suits a listener who is leading a school, or preparing to, and wants practical lessons carried by personal stories and sports metaphors rather than jargon. It also fits anyone who enjoys motivational talk with a dose of pro wrestling theatrics.

What sets it apart: Its leadership lessons come through the host's own races, daily weigh-ins and borrowed folklore, all wrapped in pro wrestling ring-announcer patter. The feed pairs those single-voice talks with From the Principal's Desk conversations and guest interviews.
