The #SVT Podcast · Swansea Vale Triathlon Club

38. February 2024 | The one where we discuss Just Stop Oil Vs SVT Zwift race

Lucy Charles' Kona swim is framed as proof that 'an Ironman is never one in the swim.'
The episode opens with the familiar SVT welcome for Swansea Vale Tri and the wider triathlon community in Wales. It has been a while since the last pod, and the hosts spend a few minutes owning that gap with their usual mix of apology and banter. Life has been busy. Christmas, honeymoons, babies, ultramarathons, High Rocks, new members, and renewals all get a mention as reasons the schedule slipped. The chat lands on the simple fact that fitting sport, work, family, coaching, and podcasting into one week is hard. They keep circling back to how hard it is to sit down and keep a routine going. That leads into a serious stretch on Car and the mental strength needed to get out of bed every morning and run every day. The hosts speak with real respect about that effort. They link exercise to mental health in a plain, supportive way. The conversation then moves into cross-country season. Pembrey, Knoll, and Margham are all in the mix. Kenfig comes up as the sandy one, the race where rhythm disappears and the legs have to do the thinking. Pentlegare rounds out the run of fixtures. The club has had strong turnouts, which means some venues are now restricting entries. That is annoying, but it is also a healthy problem to have. They talk through the practical side of team selection too, with each team limited to eight runners. The episode also looks ahead to a girls' episode the following month. The hope is to hear a different voice and maybe a different angle on High Rocks. Everything stays loose, local, and a bit messy in the best way. By the end, the show still feels like a clubhouse conversation that happens to be about triathlon.
