Meet Our Cousins: The Harbingers

April 2, 2026·53 min·4 clips
Adam defends the ivory tower using Fritz Haber's bread-from-air miracle, and Skinner dismantles it by naming what Haber did next.
Magic is real. The Old Gods host hands the feed to Audacious Machine Creative and The Harbingers, a modern fantasy about the first real magicians of the modern age. Before the borrowed story starts, the show notes the break between arcs and sends listeners toward Long Shadows on April 16th. Then the room tightens. Amy and Adam Blackwell trade clipped accusations, each sure the other has misread the moment in front of them. A lawyer's office turns into contested ground. Client, counsel, policy, and an unwanted cigarette become tools in a fight that clearly started long before this meeting. The past is still in the room. Their account moves to Princess Elizabeth Land in East Antarctica, where the Robinson Site sits under ice. The ruins are tied to a great harbinger city and carbon testing dates them around 4,000 B.C., which yanks the story out of ordinary archaeology. The dig has a bottom. After years of work and half-years of freezing darkness, McCandless's expedition finds something called a crypt, or close enough to make the word uneasy. Amy got to go. Sterling did not, and that absence hangs beside the discovery. December 15th, 2025 lands with a chill. The corrections and interruptions suggest the Antarctic site changed more than a career. It changed the rules. Credits close the frame with the cast, composers, engineers, artists, and makers, plus one last marker from October 14th, 1921. A friendly feed handoff turns into rivalry, buried power, and a discovery too old to sit quietly.
