Do These Fan Theories Solve the Case? True Crime Q&A

·1 hr·3 clips
Bailey describes the Toy Box Killer's trailer, recording, and taped victim interviews.
Bailey starts the Monday video by greeting viewers and saying she is doing Murder, Mystery, and Makeup Monday with a slightly different setup. Instead of a single case, she pulls Instagram questions and fan theories to revisit episodes they have already done. She says the day is for talking through the questions people keep asking and for looking back at some of those past cases. The first prompt asks whether there has ever been a case where, halfway through research, she decided not to do it. Bailey says she gets asked that a lot. She cannot name one off the top of her head, but she says there have been a couple of cases where she has had to step back. From there, she moves into cases that stayed with her and names Terry Shivo as one of them. She says she went in with a vague impression that her husband was the bad guy because that was the version she had heard so often, but reading more changed that picture. After going through both sides' books, she felt the story was much messier and more painful than the public shorthand suggested. She also notes that the pope got involved, which leaves her sounding stunned all over again. More than anything, she keeps returning to how sad the whole situation was for Terry. Another listener asks for something surprising about her. Bailey answers with a childhood sports detour. She says she tried a bunch of sports when she was younger, including swimming, because she was trying to find something she was good at or just liked. At state competition, she says she took second in freestyle and placed in butterfly too. Then she tells the story of getting so tired in the pool that she felt herself slip under and look up from the bottom. The memory was enough to make her quit. She closes by thanking viewers for years of watching, commenting, and showing up, then says goodbye with the kind of warm, slightly overwhelmed gratitude that has become part of the show's tone.
