Omnibus: Super Chupacabra

September 2, 2024·47 min·7 clips
Cat Noir opens with a ridiculous mission and no sensible way out. A group of hunters decides the answer to the fabled goat sucker is, apparently, a goat as bait. Bobby Sledge shows up as the island's zookeeper, caretaker, and guide, rude enough to be irritating and useful enough to keep around. He describes the creature in zoological terms that only make things stranger: brown-furred, shaggy, scaly, long-snouted, fork-tongued, and tail-fanged. Nobody agrees on what it is. Nobody agrees on anything for long. Tuesday gets pulled into the dispute because the names and the days will not stay in their proper boxes. Someone assumes the beast is locked up. Bobby clears that up fast enough. The cage is for him. The chupacabra is not caged. It is the problem. It used to suck goats, but after people came to the island to hunt it, it developed a taste for humans too. That revelation does nothing for morale. The safest place on the island turns out to be inside a cage, and the group starts treating incarceration like a practical travel option. Night falls and the plan becomes sleep, watch, and regret. The watch arrangement lasts about as long as expected before the whole thing goes sideways. When the dust clears, only four of them are left. Even then, the show refuses to settle down. What looks like snowfall turns out to be money, and Dolly is put to work catching the banknotes. A final new quest is announced, and everyone immediately sounds exhausted by the idea. The episode ends by pretending this is all perfectly normal, which is exactly the joke.

As heard by us

A brisk monster hunt that keeps tripping over its own logic, on purpose.

Cat Noir Super Chupacabra follows a crew chasing a chupacabra and keeps turning the hunt into a chain of bad plans, animal lore, and a zookeeper who insists the cage is meant for him, not the beast.
