Dover confesses that in Malawi he was ordered to execute everyone at a medical facility so the DoD could extract the virus as a bioweapon rather than eradicate it.
Julian is coughing worse. Cassie comes back with a lab plan held together by scraps and asks Dover for more time, even as the window keeps closing. Dover says she is pushing it. The route takes forty minutes each way, and every delay moves Julian closer to death or containment. Cassie asks anyway. Emmerich may be able to make monoclonal antibodies from Michaela's blood and give Julian's immune system a chance. Nobody thinks it is likely. Cassie still needs them to try, because trying changes what happens next. It means they do not jump straight to violence and call it caution. Dover hears the trap. His orders still point toward killing Michaela too, not just managing Julian's exposure. Cassie says the line out loud. They do not kill people before the disease has shown what it can do. Dover says he was following orders, but it sounds less like conviction than exhaustion. The emergency has turned obedience into something he has to answer for. Cassie brings up Michaela's choice at the party. Michaela could have infected Emmerich if she wanted a safer path for herself and Lay. She did not. Cassie sees that restraint as evidence the teenagers made a terrible mistake, panicked, and might still stop. Dover remembers being that young another way. He enlisted young, believed in the Navy, and still carries the chain of command like a wound.

As heard by us

A quarantine thriller where mercy and procedure blur into the same deadline.

Aftershock folds a spreading quarantine into a tight moral problem: how far mercy can go before it starts looking like neglect. The episode keeps its grip with clipped, overlapping talk, and that pressure suits the story well.
