The guide

Inside the world of Judah podcasts

Most listening about Judah begins halfway through a biblical narrative, with kings, conflict, prophecy, and temple affairs already in motion. Dedicated coverage is thin. The strongest episodes assume some familiarity with the surrounding books, then slow down either for close textual reading or historical reconstruction.

Kings, division, and close reading

Bible Talk — A podcast by 9Marks & Southern Seminary offers the clearest sustained entry. Its panel works through passages patiently, mixing detailed interpretation with an informal table-conversation rhythm. 2 Kings 14: On Bible Talk Pivoting to Video While Israel and Judah Pivot toward Civil War (Ep. 141) puts Judah directly inside a discussion of political rupture, while 2 Kings 15: On a Bad Israelite King Sandwich, With Some Good Judean King Bread (Ep. 142) continues the royal sequence with the show’s characteristic mix of serious exegesis and dry humor.

For close attention to structure, repeated language, chronology, and the connections between individual kings and the larger biblical story, this is the better choice. The pace is measured, and the panel is comfortable lingering over interpretive questions instead of rushing toward a devotional takeaway.

The temple through a historian’s eyes

History of the Papacy Podcast takes a more narrative route. Yahweh’s Money Pit: When Judah Tried to Renovate the Temple promises institutional history with a deliberately cheeky title. The show’s usual method is to build context, complicate easy explanations, and follow the pressures surrounding religious institutions.

That makes it the most approachable standalone listen here. You do not have to commit to a long chapter-by-chapter series, and the emphasis is less on sermon application than on explaining how a complicated episode fits together.

Following Judah through the surrounding books

Beyond those two shows, Judah is usually part of wider Bible coverage rather than the sole subject. Bible Brothers: A Comedy Podcast About The Bible reaches the relevant royal narratives through episodes such as 178. 2 Kings 15 - Assassinations and Sound Effects (w/ Sascha Stanton Craven) and 202. 2 Chronicles 10 - The Anti-Incest Incest Show (w/ Hope Davies). The format is profane, digressive, and knowingly reluctant about grinding through the text. Choose it if irreverence helps you stay with difficult or repetitive chapters.

For slower, lecture-style study, Old Testament Catholic Bible Study covers large stretches at once in 2 Chronicles Ch. 9 - 28 Bible Study and 2 Chronicles Ch. 28 - 36 Bible Study. Its voice is more argumentative and application-minded, moving from textual details into theology and contemporary church concerns.

Journey Elgin supplies another sermon-shaped route through Journey Through Scripture- 2 Chr 27-28, Isa 28-29, 2 Kings 17. Expect extended exposition, repeated explanation, and direct spiritual challenge. In these broader studies, however, Judah is one thread among many; listeners looking for a tightly bounded series devoted to the place will not find one.

Two apparent title matches lead elsewhere. Christ Church Bellingham Podcast has Lecture | A Biblical Understanding of Masculinity, Pt. 1 (Judah and Joseph), while Rhapsody In Reverie offers Full Moon: Taking One Last Ride with Willow and Judah in Stories Inspired by Avi Kaplan's Song, "Full Moon". Neither title establishes coverage of Judah as a place.

Where to start

Bible Talk - A podcast by 9Marks & Southern Seminary is the place to begin for the fullest textual discussion, especially 2 Kings 14: On Bible Talk Pivoting to Video While Israel and Judah Pivot toward Civil War (Ep. 141). Pick History of the Papacy Podcast for a more self-contained historical treatment in Yahweh’s Money Pit: When Judah Tried to Renovate the Temple. If you want to keep moving through the surrounding chapters, choose Old Testament Catholic Bible Study for extended teaching or Bible Brothers: A Comedy Podcast About The Bible for a much looser, comic read-through.
