Some great CISA podcasts to get to know
Most podcast coverage of CISA falls into two lanes. One delivers alerts almost untouched, with threat actors and malware named upfront. The other folds CISA into a wider security conversation: patching, assessment tools, policy, operational technology, and whatever else happened that week. Dedicated treatment exists, but it is concentrated in a handful of shows.
The straight-alert route
CISA Cybersecurity Alerts is the obvious starting point when the alert itself is the attraction. Episode titles carry alert numbers and state the threat plainly, as in CISA Alert AA22-057A – Destructive malware targeting organizations in Ukraine. and CISA Alert AA22-152A – Karakurt data extortion group. There is little mystery about what you are queuing up.
The range here runs from broad network activity in CISA Alert AA22-055A – Iranian government-sponsored actors conduct cyber operations against global government and commercial networks. to ransomware in CISA Alert AA22-249A – #StopRansomware: Vice Society.” The longest and most specific headline, CISA Alert AA22-257A – Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-Affiliated Cyber Actors Exploiting Vulnerabilities for Data Extortion and Disk Encryption for Ransom Operations., is representative of the feed’s utilitarian appeal. The appeal lies in hearing about the named operation rather than a panel's reaction to it.
Practical tools, properly unpacked
The strongest single-purpose explainer comes from Let's Talk Azure!. Its two-practitioner format is measured and technical, with room for qualifications and real-world considerations. S6E14 - Securing M365 with ScubaGear: A Deep Dive into CISA’s Assessment Tool gives CISA coverage a concrete centre: an assessment tool and the work of using it to secure M365. Expect a sustained walkthrough here, with time spent on practical detail rather than a stack of headlines.
Pwned: The Information Security Podcast offers a different kind of focused episode. Episode 197 - Curt Wood, CISA, and the Cavalry puts CISA directly in the title, but frames the conversation around a named guest and a memorable hook. It is a better bet for listeners who want people and discussion in the foreground, rather than an alert-number sequence.
CISA inside the news pile
Cybersecurity Headlines treats CISA as one item in a compact roundup. The Department of Know: CISA's quick patch, Miasma attacks, judge finds AI guilty places a CISA patch alongside two unrelated stories. That packaging tells you what to expect: useful, current-feeling coverage without the promise that the entire episode will stay on one organization.
Security Weekly News (Video) is looser and much rowdier. Its rapid-fire, riff-heavy style assumes the listener can keep up with technical language while the conversation wanders through jokes and asides. The title Precious Bodily Fluids, InstallFix, CISA, Claude, Overtime, Sim Swaps, Aaran Leyland - SWN #562 makes the deal explicit. CISA gets a seat at a crowded table. Choose this when personality and industry banter matter as much as extracting the CISA segment itself.
The nearby operational conversation
Beyond those focused episodes, references are mostly passing. Control Loop: The OT Cybersecurity Podcast is useful for the territory around CISA, especially when the conversation turns to reporting rules, adversaries, utilities, and operational disruption. Its episodes include Examining CIRCIA and VOLTZITE., Operational Technology disruptions: An eye on the water sector., and A free community initiative to protect small utilities. None presents itself as a CISA primer. Together, though, they show the practical environment in which the organization tends to come up.
That distinction matters. Listeners looking for a broad institutional history will not find much of one here. The available coverage is strongest when CISA is attached to a particular alert, patch, assessment tool, guest conversation, or operational-security problem.
Where to start
For the cleanest direct route, begin with CISA Cybersecurity Alerts and CISA Alert AA22-057A – Destructive malware targeting organizations in Ukraine. For a practical deep dive, use Let's Talk Azure! and S6E14 - Securing M365 with ScubaGear: A Deep Dive into CISA’s Assessment Tool. Cybersecurity Headlines keeps the news-roundup treatment brief; Security Weekly News (Video) brings speed, digression, and sharper personality to a conversation in which CISA shares the bill.
