In their own words

British Podcast Awards 2025 - Winner. In 2018, Rosie Moss lost her husband Ben in a diving accident, leaving her widowed at 37 with three children. Finding grief resources shallow and platitudes empty, she created Widowed AF—a podcast offering honest conversations about loss. Through guest stories and expert advice, the show covers practical challenges (finances, single parenting) and emotional realities (anger, loneliness, joy). From processing her own grief to building a global community, Rosie helps others feel less alone. The podcast provides tools and shared experiences for rebuilding life after loss.

As heard by us

Based on 6 episodes we listened to · September 2026

Widowed AF gives childhood bereavement and solo parenting a candid, practical language grounded in detailed guest conversations.

Rosie Moss begins with the person who died, then follows what their absence changed. Guest conversations move through young widowhood, solo parenting and the awkward language imposed on grieving people.

Short reviews from the PlayNext desk, based on the episodes we processed.

S4 – EP11 – “We Got Married Days Before He Died”: Jess Herrick on Young Widowhood, Cancer and the Life They Didn’t GetApr 13, 2026

A young widow remembers Max, their shared life, and the surgery that briefly offered hope.

Jess Herrick was 28 when her partner Max died, after a relationship that began at university. Rosie Moss lets the conversation first make space for Max as a person, not just as the center of a tragedy, before turning toward the frightening medical stretch around his spinal…

S4 – EP10 – “You Are So Strong”: Leslie Harter-Berg on Sudden Loss, Solo Parenting and Starting AgainApr 6, 2026

A clear, humane conversation about the pressure to seem strong before grief has even settled.

Leslie Harter-Berg's conversation with Rosie Moss is strongest when it stays with the uneasy weight of being told, "You're so strong," before grief has even begun to make sense.

S2 - EP24 - Chatty - Christmas SpecialDec 19, 2024

A gentle Christmas special about grief, memory, and making room for a new normal.

Widowed AF turns a Christmas catch-up into a small, steady conversation about grief, memory, and how the holidays shift when family life changes.

S2 - EP19 - What about the children - Roisin AldridgeNov 24, 2024

A candid episode on childhood grief, parental loss, and the difficult timing of support.

Parental loss sits at the centre of this episode, shaped through Roisin Aldridge's memories of her dad and the grief that reaches back into childhood.

S2 - EP20 - What About The Children - Jess YeldonNov 24, 2024

Jess's childhood grief becomes a calm, candid guide to helping children live with loss.

Children's grief can stay vivid long after adults think the defining conversation is over, and this episode gives that truth a small, human shape.

S2 - EP21 - What About The Children - Otis MiddletonNov 24, 2024

A clear, tender conversation about how a child carries a parent's death while growing up.

A child's loss of his father to cancer at seven gives this conversation with 14-year-old Otis its quiet force. He recalls visiting his father during illness, keeps two photographs in his room, and still has some of his father's clothes in the wardrobe.
