About We All Can Change Podcast

We All Can Change Podcast comes at environmental activism from an unusual direction: inward. Aaron Burr talks solo and at a leisurely pace, and the episodes sound less like lessons than like someone working through a problem aloud. Sentences run long. Points get revised mid-thought. A grave idea about harm can sit right next to a joke, or an aside about the tangerine kept within reach while recording. The recurring argument is easy to state and hard to settle. Burr accepts that cutting carbon and shrinking a footprint matter, then keeps asking what that kind of advice misses. In '59 | A Shift from Head to Heart' the answer on offer is a move from the brain to the heart, with the brain still credited for getting people this far. That thread is most concentrated in 'A Love Manifesto | Audio Version', a composed audio essay rather than a ramble. It begins with the morning news and its atrocities, questions how easily harm gets explained away, and asks whether anyone who hears about Indigenous communities poisoned by oil extraction can really stand outside that harm. It rejects an us-versus-them fight, and says that if there has to be a war, it should be fought with an open heart instead of swords and guns. Then the show turns practical, sometimes abruptly. '51 | A bike Introduction and How to Commute by Bicycle' is full of gear talk: flared handlebars, places to rest the hands on long rides, and sturdy road bikes built for the long haul. '35 | How to Have Difficult Conversations' gives grounded advice on hot-topic arguments, including the point that a debate turning personal has stopped getting anywhere and that walking away is fine. '40 | Monks vs Revolutionaries' weighs the quiet Wu Wei route against the loud and proud one, and grassroots change against top-down change, and Burr admits to having once been headstrong about opinions. Mostly this is one voice, but '21 | Animal Ethics' brings in Tawny Hammond, whose background includes animal shelter work and a job in a parks department. She also runs a bike, kayak and paddleboard rental business on a river in Traverse City, Michigan. Burr's introduction ties animal welfare and wildlife preservation to the wider environmental picture. Personal detail runs throughout: a trip from St. Pete to regroup with family up north, incense burning during a recording, and a bike episode that ends with Burr heading out to ride because it is sixty degrees and sunny. The mood is mostly warm, sometimes excited, and turns grave when the subject is dehumanization or pollution. For a first listen, the manifesto shows the conviction underneath everything, and the conversations episode shows how that conviction holds up in disagreements with other people.

Made for: Suits a listener who cares about the environment but wants more than footprint math, and who enjoys an unhurried solo voice working through harm, love and how people change, with practical detours into bike commuting and heated conversations.

What sets it apart: It treats the standard advice to cut carbon as necessary but incomplete and keeps asking what it misses. Handlebar setups, Wu Wei and a spoken love manifesto all come up in the same exploratory, self-revising conversation.
