Turbo Sports Radio

Turbo Sports Radio is built around skateboarding, but it rarely behaves like a straight sports show. It sounds more like a standing conversation among skaters who have watched the parts, played the games, broken the gear, and still want to talk it through. Recent episodes lean heavily into video-part breakdowns, with TJ Rogers, Chris Joslin, Thrasher uploads, Wallenberg, stair sets, rails, and switch tricks getting close attention. The format can be almost companion-like. A part is queued, the countdown starts, and the commentary follows the clips as they happen. The appeal is in the detail. A front board, a back biggie, a line filmed tight with fisheye, or a trick that needs several replays is treated as worth pausing over. The show also keeps one foot in everyday skate life. Chelsea Skate Park, January weather, broken kingpins, local sessions, and lists of tricks from friends all sit beside bigger names and events. That mix keeps the tone grounded. The speakers can admire legends at a Thrasher event, then pivot to why a live format would have served skate fans better. They can praise Pro Skate League, then complain about modern attention spans. They can pick apart the new Skate game and still admit the core skateboarding mechanics have something going for them. Outside skateboarding, the show likes a side mission. Turbo Tavern turns beer tasting into a long, rowdy review table, with flavor notes, percentages, film tangents, and friendly needling. Off The Hook follows fishing with the same practical curiosity: rods, licenses, Canadian Tire gear, lake rules, electronics, clear water, and ice-fishing trial and error. The mood is informal and blunt. It is not trying to sound like broadcast polish. It works because the speakers know the texture of the things they discuss, from the feel of a trick to the slow accumulation of fishing gear. Turbo Sports Radio is best for listeners who want skate culture with lived-in specificity, long tangents, and a pub-conversation pulse.
