Tomorrow Will Be Televised

Tomorrow Will Be Televised covers television as an active marketplace, not a finished screen product. The program follows what is launching, what is being revived, who is buying attention, and how distribution keeps changing. Its recent run moves through NewFront showcases, Growth Front conversations, smart-TV bundles, revived comedies, music-centered programming services, boxing ventures, and AI-powered viewing features. The format is recognizably live. Episodes open with a countdown, a slate of upcoming segments, and a direct invitation for callers and chat participants to weigh in. Then the show moves into interviews and industry notes with little attempt to sand away the mechanics of radio-style production. That visible structure is part of the appeal. Tomorrow Will Be Televised feels close to the trade floor, with phone numbers, platform roll calls, schedule changes, trivia questions, and signoffs sitting alongside questions about advertising dollars, scripted production, carriage, and audience behavior. The show is especially interested in television’s future as a more interactive and creator-driven medium. It talks about YouTube and social video as part of the TV ecosystem rather than as an outside threat. It also tracks how newer services and niche networks position themselves for advertisers. Recent conversations have looked at channels overseen by African-American, Latino, Asian-American, Native American, gay, lesbian, and related entrepreneurs, and at the gap between available audiences and advertising support. Representation is treated as an industry question as well as a programming question. Other episodes examine opportunities for people with autism in and around television, U.S. Latino scripted production, and the possibility of more music-driven formats after MTV’s retreat from that space. The show’s energy is brisk and highly referential. Names, services, platforms, holidays, schedules, and production entities arrive in a steady stream. That density makes it most useful for listeners already curious about how television gets financed, packaged, distributed, and reintroduced to audiences. It is less a recap show than a working notebook on the medium’s next moves. For PlayNext users scanning the TV business beat, it offers a distinctly live, old-school format pointed at very current questions.
