About Senior Matters Podcast
Senior Matters Podcast works from a simple premise: senior life is shaped by ordinary decisions that become serious when they are postponed. Mark White approaches those decisions through conversation, not lecture. The show’s center of gravity is estate planning, but its reach is wider than documents and signatures. Episodes move through funeral costs, cremation choices, tax rules, capital gains, Medicaid changes, retirement money, insurance tools, family caregiving, and the practical consequences of moving to Idaho late in life. The Idaho setting matters. Tax rules, growth, public services, and estate-plan differences are treated as concrete factors rather than background noise. The conversations can get technical. Then they shift into a personal aside, a family story, or a plainspoken example. That mix gives the show its usable quality. It is comfortable talking about death without making the subject theatrical. It is equally comfortable treating family recipes as legacy, because inheritance is not only property. One episode may focus on a surviving family’s need to acknowledge loss rather than reduce a death to paperwork. Another may ask whether assumptions about Social Security, spouse care, or adult children can survive the math of care costs. Guests supply much of the range. Dean Hahn joins tax discussions, Justin Walker talks through money decisions and retirement concerns, Brian Owings addresses funeral planning, Carly Ward appears in a discussion about estate plans after moving to Idaho, Bill Polson connects food and memory, and Senator Melissa Wintrow brings context to Medicaid and state funding. Mark White keeps the questions close to real clients and real families. The show does not try to make aging sound simple. It makes the next conversation easier to start. For listeners sorting through care costs, family roles, tax exposure, funeral choices, or the emotional weight of planning ahead, Senior Matters Podcast offers a steady local table where those subjects can be named plainly.
Made for: The show is for seniors, adult children, caregivers, retirees, and people who serve seniors, especially those dealing with Idaho-specific tax, care, or estate questions.
What sets it apart: It combines estate-planning perspective with local Idaho context and guest conversations that treat money, law, grief, food, family, and policy as connected parts of senior life.
